Pregnant after a Loss

What's the difference between...

maternity clothes and just buying regular clothes in a larger size? ?When it comes time for it, I was thinking about buying regular clothes one or two sizes up instead of maternity clothes. ?However, now I'm starting to wonder, will they look funny or fit differently?

  • You can get away with some items, but others will look funny or be uncomfortable.  If you get regular shirts, make sure they are long!  Before you know it your belly will be yanking them up.  Dresses (esp. flowy ones are ok in regular sizes) but I would recommend mat. pants.  They are super comfy and they fit well.  Regular pants in a bigger size will fit your belly but sag in your hips/butt/thighs.  GL  hope this helps :-)

  • Some of the items I would get maternity but I do wear long shirts that work well. Pants are important to get in Mat. sizes. I would highly recommend getting a pair of gaucho pants.
  • Def get maternity pants. It's not just the waist that gets bigger when you buy a bigger size but the butt and legs do too, so you'll end up with a saggy butt and legs and super long legs. The maternity jeans allow for you to grow without changing all the other stuff. And the shirts do allow for more room too and are longer so your belly doesn't do the oh-so-attractive hanging out of the bottom.

Yeah, I would definitely buy maternity clothes - just wait until you need them. You'll still want your pants to fit your butt & hips, and you'll want your shirts to fit your shoulders and arms. Once you start to grow, you won't want to be swimming in fabric and looking twice as big as you really are! The beauty of modern maternity clothes is that they cover your bump but show the parts of you that are still normal-sized. ;)
