The house that I live in was built in 1940. I have lived here for 2 years and have dying to rip up the carpets and see what is underneath. Well, I decided to rip out the carpet in my foyer and pray for the best and was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Now I'm dying to rip out the rest of the first now that I know what I have, but unfortunately, budget constraints put that a good 6 months out. I still have a lot of work to do and painting and stuff, but I feel like this is a good start.

Yup, I haven't done anything to them yet except to wipe off the dirt with a wet rag. They don't need to be sanded at all, I'm just going to buff them and put on a new top coat and be done with it. I am so freaking excited that they are in such good condition and can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would cover them up.?

The little kids were with DH at his Mom's today so I had a few hours to myself. The rest of the bulk of the work I'll do at night while they sleep. I tend to be very ambitious. I ripped out the carpets in our old house on 2 floors by myself while out on maternity leave because I was bored LOL?
