2nd Trimester

18 weekers

Hello fellow 18 weekers. Question for you. If you are feeling movement, is it consistent? I 'think' I'm feeling the baby. The thing is that I will feel it one day,and then I won't feel it again for 2 days or so. It worries me but I'm thinking that could be normal for this stage?

I'm still not completely able to tell the difference between baby and gas either, although a few of the movements have definitely felt more like a human, lol.

What other issues/symptoms/ etc. are you feeling at this stage? I know we're all different, but I like to hear what others are experiencing :)

Re: 18 weekers

  • I feel the baby inconsistently, but I do feel it every day. It's only usually a poke or a tickle, though, and at different times. We went to a show the other night, and the baby was feeling the drums or bass or something, and I got poked a lot! It was so cool.

I feel pretty good, but this heat is really wiping me out. Definitely less tired than I was 2 months ago!!!

  • I'm close to that and I feel the baby daily, when resting.  Not all day.

  • I will be 18 weeks tomorrow, so  I figured I could answer ;)

I started feeling kicks @ 16 wks - and just like you, I might feel it for a few days and then she takes a few days off ;) I hear that it's normal, but it's always a little concerning, I know!

My baby kicks the most when I'm on my side and I'm curled up in a ball. Apparently, it's scrunched in there and wants some room!!

Symptom wise, I'm not feeling a whole lot right now...occasional stretching of my stomach (inside & out) that is uncomfortable but that's about it at this point.

  • i feel the baby move most when i'm about to go to sleep or right after i have eaten something.  it's not all day long, but i am feeling it everyday.
  • I feel a flick or two every few days, it's not contant though which makes me a little nervous when i don't feel anything for a day or so!

Otherwise i am feeling great, apart from the headaches, stuffy nose and tender nipples! Stick out tongue

  • I didn't really feel anything til about 16 or 16 1/2 weeks. Then I started to feel slight flutters. Finally last week the flutters were much more prominent (felt like a cell phone vibrating in my pocket in my work scrubs). Then Friday night (18w5d) I felt a kick from the outside, and then my mom felt it too. Since then I haven't felt anything as prominent from the outside, but still lots of flutters and vibratey movement on the inside.

  • I feel him/her moving, but it's very subtle and not very consistent.  Sometimes I'll feel it multiple times a day and then not again for a day or two.  Sometimes I'm 100% sure it's the baby and other times I think it's the baby but am not positive.  My doctor said that's very normal and that I probably won't start feeling consistent movement for probably at least another 4 weeks or so.
  • I wouldn't say I feel the baby consistently, but I do feel the baby usually around 4:00 pm.

Some days I don't feel the baby at all, and others I feel her when I am going to bed.

  • I still haven't felt any movement at all... but everyone's different.

    same exact thing for me.

  • Totally normal.  I'm 20 weeks and starting to feel the baby more consistently but it's not something you should really be concerned about until 25+ weeks.
  • I don't feel the baby except when I get up to fast.  I can feel it moving down like whoa I wasn't ready for that mom, LOL.  Nothing else though.  Sad
  • I asked my doctor this same question on Thursday and she said it is completely normal and it will probably a few more weeks until I can expect to feel it consistently. I feel baby everyday, usually after eating, but it's only a few pokes and then I don't feel it again for several hours. So, it's pretty normal.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone. It's true that we all are very different and will feel the movements differently. It's hard to not obsess about it when you only get confirmation once every month that the baby is ok (heartrate at the doctors!).

Soon we'll all be feeling jabs to the ribs that are so hard we'll be wondering how we ever questioned if it was baby or not, lol.

  • Hello!  I haven't felt anything yet, unfortunately so you are lucky!!!!  I have an anterior placenta so I imagine that is why.  Congrats on feeling your little one, I am so jealous!!!
  • I'm definitely feeling movement, but not consistently yet.

  • I feel Baby A all the time.  It's closest to my cervix, so when I sit for long periods or bend over, I guess he or she gets schrunched.  Baby B I feel mostly when I'm laying down.  Symptoms right now are hip and back pain.
