If so, how did that work out for you? Where did you buy the twin bed? Did you get all new furniture for the older child and give the nursery furniture to the younger child or did you find a bed that coordinated with the existing furniture?
I don't have to be thinking about this quite yet, but I like to obsess. ![]()
Anyway, my older daughter will be just shy of two when we move her from the crib, so that she doesn't feel put-out when the baby comes. I'm thinking of just getting her a whole new furniture set for her "big girl" room, but we don't have a ton of money to spend. Ikea has cute, affordable kid's furniture, but I'm wondering how well will it grow with her? Does anyone have any of their children's stuff?
Re: Did you go straight to a twin bed and skip the toddler bed?
Madeleine will obviously be older than Caleb when baby #2 arrives, but FWIW C is still in his crib. He is so not ready to move to a big boy bed yet. When Asher moves into C's room, into a crib, C will very likely still be in his crib. We got a convertible crib for him so I think we will buy a whole 'nother crib for A and just convert C's bed when he's ready for it.
I know that doesn't help.... but it's fun to see you on this board

We moved DS to a twin bed at 10 months old. We just have his matress on the floor for now. We do have a captains bed for him, but with a new baby and moving, we haven't put it up yet. Hes been fine with what he has.
We passed the nursery furniture down with each kid, we haven't bought anything new since DS#1.
We actually converted our crib to a toddler bed for DD#1. We bought all new furniture for DD#2 (crib, dresser, etc.) when she was born. DD#2 is still in a crib now at age 2 (and I am NOT moving her out yet since she's fine in there).
When I got PG with DS, DD#1 got her "big girl" furniture (with twin bed), and we use the crib for DS now.
We got a hand me down crib and moved Ryan into his new room just this weekend. We got a full bedroom set- twin bed, dresser, nightstand and just have the crib in there as well until he's ready to move into the bed. It's been great b/c he often ends up in our bed and now we've been able to take him out of the crib and get into his bed with him so either DH or I actually get a good night's sleep.
We have the bed against the wall and a side rail. He loves sleeping in beds, gets out with no problem, and I think he'd do much better in one than a crib but b/c he's not STTN, I'd be worried about him wandering so in the crib he remains.
We moved DD to a twin bed (mattress on the floor) at 16mo. She did fine.
The nursery furniture is all going to the new baby. We've bought her a new dress from Ikea, but so far we don't have a bed frame though we have moved her up to having the mattress on the box springs. She likes to be able to just flop into bed so I'm in no hurry to get a bed frame.
