poll on vile smells in your home
In honor of Baze's post below lets do a poll about bad smells in your home and the trouble that you had tracking them down.
Mine was a bad smell that seemed to be all through the downstairs. I thought it was a wet rag, the smell was getting progressively worse. After two days I found a dead possum in my garage. H was out of town and I had to use a shovel to get him off the garage floor. As I put him in the trash bag one of his 3 pronged feet happened to rip the trash bag and I thought he was coming back to life. I screamed in the middle of the garage. So gross - H of course thought that the image of me in the garage with the shovel and the dead critter was hilarious. H still makes possum jokes and it has been over a year since "the possum incident".
I know this poll is gross.... lets hear some more gross ones!!!!

We came home from Vegas last year and all I could smell was something that smelled like dirty daipers mixed with cat pee...gross! I narrowed it down to the kitchen and for 2 days I scrubbed everything!!!! still was there....Dh goes to use the oven and the smell gets so bad I want ot vomit...turns out one of the cats (the bitchy one of course) peed on the stove and it leaked through the burners. I wanted to get rid of her then and there.
So now whenever we go out we cover the burners with an extra large cutting board and that seems to do the trick. We also have to put the other girl cat into the spare bedroom so they don't fight.
The things we do for our animals...uuggh!
Every once in a while a skunk decides to spray in our back yard in the middle of the night.... of course with the windows open.... lovely smell to wake up to LOL
In my old house I had a mouse die in the wall.... stinky! I was glad I got rid of the mice quickly! Of course not before they chewed a hole in the floor in the kitchen behind the fridge!
I also had a garter snake come in through the doggie door... no smell, but it scared me when it first slithered by.... It got caught on a tape gun all by itself... Wasn't meant to be a snake trap LOL But it did the trick... I picked up the tape gun, snake & all & threw it out the back door... Poor snake didn't know what to do wrapped up in all that packing tape

One really bad smell in my house happened when we were in Europe for 2 weeks. My sister was dog sitting, so I left food, a beer etc for her. She had people over to drink then head out down to the square where all the bars and restaruants etc are in the area. She is 26 so house/dog sitting was cool. When we got home..something in the house was totally rotten. I asked her what happened. She said nothing that it was prgressively gotten worse over the two weeks and she just kept burning candles and spraying febreeze...
turns out it was a rotten zucchni that I left in the veggie basket on the wall. It was so rotten that it was liquified inside the skin and dripping goo on my hard wood floor. It made me vomit while I was cleaning it up it was so bad..
yep I live in a stink hole (sometimes) I guess..

Bad smells in our house generally come from the cat's litter box. He's old and he has gotten lazy about covering his poop, so I have to check the box a couple of times a day to make sure everything's covered.
Other than that, we've had bad smells occasionally in the kitchen, but it usually ends up being an egg in the disposal that we forgot about, or the potatoes rotting in the bag because we forgot to use them. No fun stories from me, I'm afraid.

I once had an ex-boyfriend spray my pepper spray while I was in the shower. He wanted to see what it smelled like ???!!!!! (I don't think I need to explain why he is an ex). I came out of the bathroom and couldn't breath. I couldn't stay in my condo for a couple days until the smell was gone.
