I have a stepson that is almost 12 and he still watches cartoons that seem sort of "young" for his age...just wondered if anyone knew around the age they become disinterested in cartoons. I don't remember watching them to that age. I sort of thought he'd be more interested in some of the "pre-teen" shows they have out now, not Sponge Bob??? I don't know, I could be wrong...

Re: When do older kids stop watching cartoons?
LOL spongebob is hilarious.
(and this is the 6-12 MONTHS board)
Considering I know adults who watch Sponge Bob, I would say never. DH will still turn on the Flintstones or the Jetsons or something once in a while. Boys seem to use cartoons or video games as an escape through out their whole lives. (Look at the Simpsons or Family Guy).?
If you want him to have older plot lines, you could direct him to anime.?

Yes, I reolize this is the 6-12 board, I have an 11 month old. This was just a question because he is with us right now for a few weeks this summer.
Also, I reolze that men sometimes throw on a cartoon every so often for a laugh, but this is his first choice in shows and I just didn't know if that was the age, I am merley just curious, I mean I am not his mother and if she dosn't care then so be it, just my own curiosity, like I said.
DH loves cartoons, that's his first choice. I wouldn't worry about it, it's pretty common for an 11 year old.
