Honestly I think we had everything we needed for the first one and I'm not really planning on buying a whole heck of a lot for this one. Maybe duplicates of stuff that DS#1 always has (like the Ocean Aquarium thingy) so that way there is one in each room. But outside of stuff like that, I don't think we really need to get anything.
I think we were pretty well set with DS so I'm not sure what we'll get getting for this one. I'm sure we will end up getting a double stroller at some point.?

We got DS a convertible crib so we're getting another one for this baby. Then we're also getting a double stroller. That's about it other than clothes.
We bought a sling for #2 and a double stroller, but otherwise we had everything we needed already. This time around I don't think we plan to buy anything other than some new bedding.
An Arms Reach Co-Sleeper. DS's crib fit in my old bedroom, but we've since moved and gotten a king sized bed, and a crib won't fit. So we're getting a co-sleeper for LO to sleep in the first few months. And, I purchased a new pack n' play, b/c I really hated the one I got the first time around (my aunt, bless her heart, bought it at K-mart and it had Winnie the Pooh all over it- NMS!). The old pack n' play is going to live with my parents, while I have the nice new brown one that will match my living room!
I feel like we have all of the basics. I know we'll need a new crib and I've been looking at the Sit N Stand type strollers, but that's about it. Of course, if this one's a boy, we'll also need a bunch of new clothes!

new clothes, this one is another boy but they are opposite season babies and we wont be able to re-use much of the stuff we already have...)
?
*We bought a toddler bed for DS so that we don't have to buy 2 cribs but we'll see if he will be in it by the time baby comes (he is only 14 months right now)?
Honestly, its been 6 years since our DS, so in the process we donated or gave away ALL but the crib....clothes, toys, strollers, high chairs...you name it. Not to mention we had EVERY baby product on the market.
This baby may be getting shafted, but the ONLY things we figured we need are:
Cradle Swing
Breast Pump
Pack and Play
Monitor
High Chair
Sling
Glider Rocker
Car Seat and Base (matching stroller of course)
We are not doing the bouncers or the travel swings or any of the other toys that just weren't used. I'm not having a shower with this one- *excuse me for this* but I don't believe in having baby showers for anything other than your first (my family raised us this way)..so we are trying to keep our list to the necessities.
I seriously thought we needed less than that until I started doing my list. Haha- better start shopping or it will be expensive all at once!
Hospital grade breast pump - I had a Medela PIS last time. What a joke.
Moby wrap
Ergo (likely)
I'm not buying a new bottle warmer only because I am hoping to avoid heating with this baby. We'll see if I need one this time or not. I have a two story house and it was nice not having to go downstairs for middle of the night bottles after I was done nursing.
about the only thing we are getting: new changing pad for the dresser
i also got a breast pump off craigslist since the last time i just borrowed one. otherwise we are pretty set. i would like a swing, because i sold mine at a garage sale-instead of storing it. easy enough to find one at a sale somewhere.
a very nice swaddeling blanket! everytime someone held my son, they unweapped the baby and i had to do it all over again. it was annoying. this time i got one from the peanut shell, and i plan on getting at least one more. they are way nicer than those plain cotton ones you get at regular stores
Even though our kids will be nearly six years apart, we've kept almost everything. The only things we'll buy/borrow this time:
Snap 'n' Go for short trips... haaaaated dealing with the big stroller
Swing
Another rocking chair/glider (since we love having the first one in the living room and don't want to lose that comfy seat)
Hospital grade breast pump (we rented last time... expensive but worth it... but this time I think we'll just buy)
One more sling (since I only have... um... three? I'm a sling nut.)
Cold-weather sleepers/clothes

A PP mentioned not having a shower for the second. Let me say that I couldn't agree more. We're going to have a Meet the Baby party after the birth, but will specify 'no gifts please' on the invite. People came out of the woodwork with our daughter's showers, and it would feel weird to ask for things again.
I'm thinking I will get an ERGO carrier, a video monitor, and a cradle swing. All things that I thought about getting with DD but we either got another brand (like the baby Bjorn) or borrowed the first time around.
Re: 2nd time mommies...What didn't you have the first time?
(m/c 1.17.07, m/c 5.15.07)
DS - 03.15.08
DD2 - 12.03.09
DD3 - 3.28.11
I think the better question is what did you get for the first one that you found totally unessecary for the second one?
#1 wipe warmer
#2 bottle warmer
