3D Ultrasound Locations- Been There?

Hi ladies! Sorry to keep posting questions about ultrasounds, but DH and I just found out that our clinic doesn't do 3d (after they told us that they did- augh!). I checked and it looks like there are two local places that do 3d ultrasounds besides clinics- Bella Angel Imaging in Maple Grove and Premiere 4d Imaging in Bloomington. Has anyone been to these and what was your experience like?

Re: 3D Ultrasound Locations- Been There?

  • We went to the Premiere 4d Imaging in Bloomington. Had a good experience. We went at 29 weeks and then since we didn't get good pictures he had us come back at 31 weeks to try again for free. I would go there again if I have another baby.

If you're going to have it done, I would wait until you're at least 25 weeks when the baby starts looking more chubby/cute!! Smile

  • Do you mind me asking how much these cost? I was told that most insurance companies don't cover the cost. Is this true? We go to Generations Women's Center and they don't offer the 3-D ultrasounds. When I had my first ultrasound I asked the tech about the 3-D and it seemed like she was kind of discouraging me from getting them but I can't remember why. Are there any risks to getting these ultrasounds? Thanks!

Basically, the cheapest you can get it done at these places is $120-$150 depending on when you go. You can find the information on their websites. I checked with our insurance and they won't cover a 3D ultrasound so if DH and I decide to go, we will have to foot the bill.

As for risks, there are some people that say that 3D ultrasounds are risky, but there are also people who say the same about 2D ultrasounds. When it comes down to it, 3D ultrasounds are the same type of sound waves that are used with 2D but they are sent into your belly at different angles and the computer renders the 3D image. There is no greater risk than that of a normal 2D ultrasound.

  • I go to the Fairview Cedar River Side hospital right by Augsburg College. The 3d is covered by insurance!
