ok. so i know that everyone and every pregnancy is different BUT... i am only 22 weeks along, and already have colostrum. is this normal? im worried that it is WAY too early for me to be producing colostrum, and im worried that there wont be any by time LO gets here and actually needs it. is anyone else experiencing this or should i be concerned??
Re: may be TMI... but really curious about this...
I admit it. I just squeezed my nipples and saw little tiny droplets. Oh my goodness.
ok so to continue in my oversharing...
like a week ago i noticed dry looking skin on my nipples and im like WTF is THIS all about??!!? so i squeezed, and a tiny bit of clear liquid came out. since then, ive been squeezing once or twice a day to see and its mainly clearish then the yellow colostrum comes out!! i probably should leave my poor BBs alone and not be squeezing but i cant help it! its so weird and it freaked me out!
side note: i am NOT a lunatic freak child who goes around squeezing her nipples, but this is my first pregnancy, so i am overly curious about everything.
I don't think it is to early for you, and from the books I am reading it is about the right time.. I actually have had small amounts before I was pregnant, and this is my first. My doctor just said that it means I will have an easier time breast feeding.
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow, and I have the little dried up, um, crusties. Not too much, but enough to make me notice it!
If it's true I will have an easier time breastfeeding - then by all means, please start producing colostrum soon, boobs!! :P
I'm LMAO right now. I told DH about this thread and said "I'm not squeezing my nipples because if something comes out I'll be too freaked out about it!" So he says to me: "do you want to go to bed and have sex and I won't squeeze your nipples?" Ohhhhh DH
I started leaking around 19 weeks with DS, none so far with this one but I keep my boobs more contained now, habit from EP'ing. At one time I even leaked a little blood, which freaked me out completely. Goggle that and you come up with breast cancer, but my doc just said that it was due to my boobs gearing up for milk production and to wear supportive bras as much as possible.
OUCH! Tried it... nothing yet!
I'm 22w3d, and I've been leaking for about three weeks already. The first time, it totally freaked me out. I called my OB first thing in the morning (it's my first pregnancy), and asked if it was normal to start producing stuff this early, and if it meant that I would run out by the time my LO gets here. The nurse said that it's totally normal, and that it did not at all mean that I would have a problem after the baby comes. In fact, she said that, from what she has seen, women who leak earlier tend to have more production post-birth. Not always, but a lot of the time. I was shocked when it occurred; I wasn't expecting it until sometime in the 3rd trimester. DH gets a kick out of it; he'll say "babe, you leaked through your shirt again" and then laugh at me. Sigh.
