Yesterday was amazing! DH and I find out we are expecting another girl...we are over the moon! We were blessed with DD and now she will have a sister..so close in age, we are soo excited. Well, we announced the sex to everyone last night during a brbq, at our home. My in-laws, once again, showed very little emotion when finding out the sex. They had the same reaction when we told them about DD. They do not believe if it is a girl that the results are correct. They believe there are too many false readings, so they do not and will not refer to the baby as a girl, buy anything pink or "girly", etc. MIL was all "worked up" at my shower for DD because everything was pink! It's just hurtful that they can't be happy that the child is healthy and instead they are disappointed because it doesn't have a penis!! (I am the only one that would be able to carry on the family name)
I no sooner try to "get over" their hurtful behavior, and today we call DH's grandmother to tell her the sex. yes, she's 88, but very much "with it". Her reaction, "Oh, (long pause) ___(DH's name) must be sooo disappointed!" UHM...no! DH is thrilled..it is possible for a man to be happy about having a little girl! After telling her the intended name, "Oh, Abigail? That's an old witches name!!" Realy?! Crazy old bat! Is it any wonder none of your grandchildren visit you?!
Thank god my family is as excited as we are...I don't think I could take another negative comment! OK....vent over!!
Re: (vent:long)Rain on my parade, the in-laws strike again!
That would really bother me, but once they see their granddaughter, hopefully things will change. Whether they do or not, forget it! Enjoy this time and your healthy baby girl. She will be a lovely, beautiful addition to your young family. And hey, CONGRATULATIONS!
P.S. Abigail is an adorable name.
Response to her "oh, WAIT...i didn't realize that Abigail was *your* name..."
LOL

I think Abigail is a beautiful name. Grandma is a crazy old bat.
I don't get the obsession some people have with boys. I just don't. *shrug*

I know how you feel. We're so excited to be having a girl, but my stepdad and brother were obviously disappointed. My brother has two girls, and he was really hoping for a nephew. When my stepdad found out (and BTW, he's a great guy), he told me and my mom, "Oh, I was really hoping for a boy." How freaking annoying.
Also, I love the name Abigail!
