I got the Rhogam shot when I m/c because time was of the essence (I am negative obvs), but this week DH got a routine physical and had them test his blood type for Rh factor. He is negative too. Do you think if we had this info faxed to my OB they would let me opt out of the Rhogam shot, or do they do it anyway just in case the H is not the baby's father? My OB seemed opened to the idea when we mentioned it weeks ago. Has anyone done this?
Re: DH is Rh- negative too
My sister and her DH are both negative and they had her get the shot. I don't know if this is true or if she's really gullible, but they told her like in math, two negatives can make a positive. I've been curious about it, but haven't googled it yet. Sounds fishy to me.
ETA: Just googled it and whoever told her that didn't know what they were talking about, but my sister will believe anything.
ETA2: something else said it's possible because the tests aren't always sensitive enough to pick up the Rh factor and the results can come out negative when in fact someone is positive. Sorry if I'm just confusing you.
Both DH and I are negative.... I had to bring in a copy of his blood type to my dr to prove it and the dr mentioned having me sign something to say that he is the father. But never brought it up again.
Dr. told me that the baby has to be negative if both of us... no way to get a positive blood type
