D.C. Area Babies

*~*~*CharLou*~*~*

For whatever reason, this popped into my head when I woke up at 4am today.  I remembered that there were several times when DD did the same thing as a newborn re: only sleeping on our chests.  We realized after a few times that she was chilly, and liked the body heat.  I know the books all say "one extra layer" but every baby is different, and DD definitely likes to be snuggly warm -- especially in the summer, when the A/C is circulating cold air.  Anyway, putting one of those little stocking caps on her head and/or keeping her in long sleeves and feeties ("Sleep and Plays") made a huge difference.  Just thought I'd throw it out there.  GL!

Re: *~*~*CharLou*~*~*

  • Thanks! Actually we did just that (long sleeve onsie and the hat from the hospital) and it worked! We also double swaddled her. She had a hard time keeping her temp up in the hospital so it hit me that she still could be struggling with that.

She is now sleeping in her bassinet at night (we still hold her during the day) and waking every 2 hours to feed and then goes right back to sleep. I think also that my milk was not totally in the first 3 nights. She now nurses for about 10 mins per breast and then lays back with that satisfied look and then sort of passes out...where as before she just sucked and sucked and never would go to sleep.

    THANKS!
