So DH and I met with the RE on Wednesday and we talked about history and he ordered all the usual bloodwork for both of us and for me the bloodwork, u/s, and HSG. I am really excited that we are one more step into our journey of trying to have a family. He did say that most of his cases do not have any diagnosis of problems and if that is the case, we just keep trying. I am little concerned about that just because I'm scared to try again and lose another baby.
He did say that within my age group (I'm 25), it is a 1:10 ratio of having a miscarriage, so he said that it is probably that we just had bad luck twice, since there is no history within either of our families of miscarriage or genetic disorders. Even though that does not make me feel any better.
My only question to you wonderful girls is this: Is there anyone here that can get pregnant, but not stay pregnant? If so, how did things or are things going for you? As this seems to be our problem, as I can not get past 6 weeks. I have wanted to ask this for awhile, but I do not want to offend anyone and I'm very sorry if I am, because I know from reading other posts that some are going through a tough time to get pregnant.
I appreciate your advice and TIA!
Re: RE 1st App't and question.
Hi there. To answer your question, me!!! Once we get my ovaries to work with lots of drugs, we get pregnant fairly easily. Now our biggest problem is finding out how to stay pregnant. We have done 5 injectable cycles, and got pregnant 4/5. First loss at 6 weeks, never made it to ultrasound. 2nd loss was my twins at about 6 weeks, lost them 2 days after seeing the heartbeats. My third loss was very early, a chemical pregnancy. My fourth loss came this weekend when we lost our triplets at 9 weeks.
Is your doctor going to do a recurrent pregnancy loss panel on you? That is the first thing you should ask for. They will test for thrombophilias, immunity issues and some other things. I would also recommend asking for karyotyping for you and your DH. We had all this done after our second loss. I am dx with Factor V Leiden Hetero and MTHFR Hetero. I take a baby aspirin every day and also I am put on blood thinners during my treatment cycles for these conditions. These are the only things we have found during our testing. It seems that everything else is ok. When we go to our post m/c follow up on Tuesday, I will be talking to my RE about what we can do next.
Feel free to ask any questions and good luck.
I am not offended by your question at all.
I have had 3 m/c's. I had RPL testing done to see if there was a cause, and they found nothing. Even with some genetic and clotting history in my family. My RE said about 75% of cases have no explanation.
Basically we actively TTC'd for 3 years, at which point we have now shifted our focus to adoption. While we are still TTC, we are not pursuing any fertility treatments at this point, in part because our agency wants us to focus on one or the other (that is not always the case).
Maybe not the answer you wanted to hear, but I just wanted to share my experience. Due to religious reasons we did not do IUI or IVF, which may be an option for you. That seemed to be the way my RE wanted to go with any further treatment we had, though I also had the option of Femara or injectibles.
