DH recently revealed that he likes the name Tess. I also like this name, especially since it's not overused; however, my name is Chris and DS is Davis.
I said I vetoed Tess because "Chris, Davis and Tess" are wayyy too similar. WDYT? It just seems like a lot of S sounds. Our number one girls name is Charlotte but I hate that it's becoming so popular.
Re: Too many similar sounding names in one family?
I don't mind the "s" in your situation. The initial sounds are all completely different. The "s" is a soft ending and doesn't grate the way it would if all your names ended with an "ee" sound, imo.
I also really like the name Tess, so I'm biased that you should use it if you love it!

Tess sounds like a nickname. I'm not a fan. I like Charlotte a lot more.
ETA: Camille is really pretty on your name list. It is definitely not popular so that would be a great choice.?
I thin that first names starting with the same sound is a bigger deal. Ending with the same sound? People might notice, but it really doesn't sound like you are simply "collecting" children that end in an s. Davis and Tess are distictive enough that I really wouldn't think twice about it.
I think Tess is a really nice name, BTW!
Haha, Carrot303, our name lists are almost identical! And we love Charlotte too (my grandmother's name) but are kicking around a bunch of other ideas too, b/c of the popularity of Charlotte. Tess was not on my list, but it might be now, b/c it is a great name. I don't think the s's are an issue in your case, there's no actual rhyming (which would *not* be cool)!
What are names that you love that are not on my list? (I want other ideas!) We love "old lady names." I absolutely love Norah but I doubt we'll go with it in the end. Charlotte is what we've always had in our mind. I was looking at Nameberry.com the other day and Tess was on a lot of the lists I was looking at and that's when DH said that he really liked Tess. We'll see. I do love both names.
Our boys name is Eli but holy crap it's popular right now. He wouldn't be Elijah - just Eli but all the Elijah's in the world will go as Eli so it really is common.
