Oh, you don't have much time left! Just enjoy it and eat the snacks! I was sure I was going to get the talk on Wed because I gained 11 pounds in the past month but she didn't...I think she forgot! Here's to the snack bar!
I say Bah! Snacks & dessert are one of the perks of pregnancy - it offsets some of the less than desirable symptoms like swollen ankles and itchy boobs!
wtf?? I keep reading you need to introduce Lo to all sorts of food. I would think junk food is included in that. Thats one of the best parts of pregnancy is eating!! I mad for you!
The sad thing is, I've only gained 22 lbs total. I figured I was right on track. But he wants me to stay under 30, which means 8 lbs max for the next 10 weeks. & at the rate I'm going, I'll be at 30 lbs in 2-3 weeks.
True story: Last night in childbirth class we had to introduce ourselves and one of the questions was "what is one of your favorite parts of pregnancy?"
I answered... getting to have dessert more often.
Most of the other girls answered: feeling my baby move.
I felt like a horrible mother and giant fatty. I mean.... I thought feeling the baby move was a given, I was trying to be witty.

I bet it was a growth spurt. I had gained 9 or so pounds in one month and then the next month gained only 3 pounds (and didn't do anything different).

I like feeling baby move after I eat a lovely dessert!
Back to OP - I got the same kind of talk around that time. After a while, they relaxed on my weight - it was something about gaining too quick at a certain phase. I was in a bad mood for a while.

Eek, I'm exactly the same as you... 29 weeks and 22 lbs gained. I didn't get the talk at my 28 week appt, thank goodness. Hope I don't get it at the next one (32wk)!
I had gained 27 pounds by that time and I got that talk too. Now I haven't gained any more since then and I haven't changed anything. I eat dessert and snacks, but no junk food (only organic ice cream haha).?

You just gave the answer they were all thinking. They gave the crunchy earth mother what you are supposed to say answer.

I was up 23 lbs at 28 weeks and got the talk as well. Im only supposed to have a pound a week from now on. I still snack though. Also, this week I lost my appetite for a few days as some unexpected nausea set in.
At 27 weeks I was up 27 lbs., and I got the weight talk. I got mad and went to Taco Bell for lunch. Since them I haven't changed my diet much and have actually lost two pounds. It seems like most of us have a big weight gain in the late twenties then the weight seems to taper off. I'd listen to the doctor, but only sort of.
Without snacks and desert I'd defiantly go insane.

HAH 22, I wish! Listen up sister I won't lie, I have gained 45lbs as of my 34 week visit. Only 1 of 5 in my practice seemed concerned. My DH is a doc too and he is fine with it. He knows I will not let myself stay this big. Since the baby is measuring fine and fluid is fine I am going to keep on enjoying my pregnancy cravings! I'll be back at WW and the gym in about 6 weeks!
Married 10-12-08, DS born 08-23-09,
BFP 01-05-13 resulted in a MC 01-09-13
BFP 02-15-13 EDD 10-28-13
my docs have said nothing about my weight and i am up like 45lbs now- i did gain a bunch all at once (mid-end of 2nd tri) and then i tapperd off- where i didnt gain anything from week to week and sometimes i would loose weight- they gave me more of a side eye when i lost weight... i just had another growth spurt tho (6lbs in ONE week!!!) and my doc attributed it to water retention!
i love how they dont make a big deal about the weight! i was always depressed prior to pregnancy with any weight gain so if i had them on my butt, i think i would go crazy!
I gained the 2-4 pds a week for all of second tri. I had an appt yesterday and I only gained 1.2 pds in 2 weeks. So it looks like it might be tapering off, you might be the same way.
Re: I was told to stop
your doc told you that? I can only imagine what they're gonna tell me on Monday, sigh...
The doctor.
In response to me gaining 3-4 lbs PER WEEK for the past month.
I think you should def get a second opinion on that.
::kidding::
Yeah my doc suggested I cut down on salty foods for my swelling: cheese, tuna, soups. Sad day.

Crazy!!! That's ok... I'm up to 50 lbs gained so far and it won't seem to stop. Oh well! As long as the baby is healthy, right??

This is why we are friends, Penny.
