Yikes! Those lines were INSANE!

I ran into ESwan and then later Nearly and Murph. Needless to say, as I walked in and saw the lines snaked alllllll the way around the building, I knew quickly that I would not be purchasing anything. I peeked at the big items, and there wasn't anything that jumped out at me and grabbed my leg, so I grabbed some BBQ and headed back to work. Sigh! Looks like I'll be going over there on Sunday to pick out clothes during the 1/2 price sale.

Re: Yikes! Those lines were INSANE!

  • I was there too!!  That place was crazy!  Here's my experience..

I went looking for a jogging stroller and an ergo.  We arrived close to 9a.m.  The line was at least a quarter of a mile long just to get into the building.  Thankfully, it moved rather quickly.

I went straight for the strollers.  They had a ton (only a couple of jogging strollers) but nothing that sparked my interest.  I then headed for the baby carriers.  They had a ton of bjorn type carriers but no ergo.

I looked at the toys but was at a complete loss as to what to buy.  I started becoming a little claustrophobic and overwhelmed with all my choices.  So, I didn't pick up anything.

I headed to the clothes.  They had quite a few boy clothes but tons and tons of girl clothes (as usual).  I picked out a few clothes for DS this winter.  Then, headed to the check-out line to find out it was as if I were going to wait in a line at Disney.  It was insane!  It was at least an hour wait.

I couldn't justify waiting an hour to spend about $30 on a few outfits.  So, I placed everything back.

I'm glad I went because it was a fun experience.  Everyone was pleasant.  I was surprised b/c you know how women can be when there is a good sale going on (oh, maybe that's just me)

However, I think I will try to hit up a few yard sales in nice neighborhoods.  If anyone knows of any let me know.

Good luck shopping to all of you ladies who venture to the Jim Graham building!!

This is exactly why I'm not even going to bother!!!  I would really like to check it out, but I just don't have time during the week (anymore) and don't really feel like giving up hours out of my weekend either!!  Oh well.

  • I would like to go, but during the week I have no time and work too far away.  Maybe we will try to go this weekend, but I just feel like I would get annoyed with the crowds and DH already said he would "rather eat poison than go shopping".  Oh well...
  • It sounds like they need some better systems or need to be open more days. :(
  • I just got back and the parking lot was a lot less full when I left compared to when I got there. I did purchase a stroller for my girlfriend- a graco duo for $45. She has a 2.5 yr old and one on the way. She was happy.
I picked up a few toys for grady less than 3 items so I was able to go in the "quick" line which was significantly shorter.
I couldn't even bring myself to look at clothes b/c there was just too much!!!
I was dissappointed all the Thomas the Train stuff was gone. I was looking for a train table but no luck all were sold Sad
  • I had a pretty good time there! =) I got there a little after 10 and headed right to the pack N plays. The probably had almost a dozen left, I picked one out and was able to pay right there because its a "big" item. I wandered around and ended up picking up some books and blocks. I checked out in the Express Lane in about 15 minutes. It was not bad at all!

Ditto PP, I was surprised at how nice everyone was. Except this one old lady asked me if she could jump the line in front of me. NO way, someone would cut me up if I did that!

I was not impressed with the big pickup area. The people were not helpful. I had to find my own item in the huge area and I didn't want to get DS out of the car since he was sleeping. That was more of a hassle than anything else.

  • Murph and I could hardly even find the end of the line so we ended up ditching the few items we had and going to lunch instead. It was crazy in there! Maybe 1/2 price day will be better?
  • Just an FYI about 1/2 price Sunday...last year DH was a volunteer there and was working checkout.  The lines were wrapped throughout the entire building and people were saying their wait was 3+ hours.  So, probably WORSE than today!
