More Sleep=Better Sleep?

Does this hold true for anyone else? It seems the more she sleeps, the better she sleeps. The old, "keep them up and tire them out" so they'll sleep, doesn't seem to work for us. The past few morning she had been waking up at 4:00 or 6:00 and then having crappy naps. Today I forced her to sleep until 7:30 (didn't get her out of crib, kept paci in) and then she played and went down for a morning nap at 9:00 and is still sleeping. I think she just needs a lot of sleep still.

Re: More Sleep=Better Sleep?

  • I am finding this to work for us.  We used to try to keep him up until 9:30 and feed him again, but now we start bedtime around 7:30 ish and he is out by 8 and sleeping so much better and longer.

  • From what I've heard from others, both off and on the boards, agrees with you.  Eli always sleeps better and longer when he goes to bed early.  Honestly I've never been told to keep them up later to wear them out, but I guess common sense would tell you it would.  But it normally creates the opposite and they're overtired and cranky the next day.  And unless he's just really upset, I don't get him out of bed before 6:30 or so.
