Help me prepare myself (2 mo shots)

So I have heard some good stories lately, did you guys do anything special?

We were going to give him a little Tylenol before we took him (this is only the 2nd time he will have had it so I really don't drug him up regularly).  How much Tylenol do you give a 2 month old?  It doesn't have dosing instructions for that young.

  • I asked the nurse to give O some before they did it and she knew the dosing amount.  She also opened up a new bottle of Tylenol and let me keep the rest- score! :)

  • I didn't give DS any Tylenol, but the dr. said he could have one dropper full.

  • Ditto Becki-at two months they can now have the full dropper. I give her some after we get home. But he'll probably scream with the shots and then pass right out. I give tylenol when she wakes up from the shot and then before bed. Just prepared for him to be a little fussy for a few days and maybe some extra poopy diapers because of the influenza shot.

Yuck to extra poopy diapers!  We scheduled it for a Friday though so that I would be home with him over the weekend at least.

  • I asked for dosing at the appt.  The actual shots weren't that bad, he only cried for a minute, but then he was feeling yucky with a fever for the next day or so.  Just be prepared to spend lots of time cuddling and snuggling with your little guy over the weekend! :)

  • So far, Holly hasn't seemed to be affected by her shots much at all. Well, aside from the initial screaming. But that lasts for just a minute or so, until I can snuggle her and calm her down. As far as afterwards, we've had no effects like fever, diarrhea, etc. I think I've given her Tylenol right before and right after before (not both, one or the other, at different visits)...

  • I didn't give Rosalyn any Tylenol before or after her shots.  She did the initial screaming/crying and then slept like a champ that night (which is normal), but she slept later than she normally does the next morning.  Other than that, her behavior was the usual.
