I think most of those women are in denial. ?I can see how a few who have irregular periods, who are very overweight and have an anterior placenta, might not realize it for many months. ?But generally, I think they just don't want to face reality.

I always find this rather insulting. Everyone's body is different, and all babies act different. I wasn't aware that I was pregnant until I was 7 months along. I always missed periods for 6-7 months at a time...often longer. I didnt have morning sickness (much like now), I never felt the baby move, and I didnt gain any weight. I considered the fact that I was pregnant SOLELY because I peed more often, but when a test said negative (at 3 months) I believed it. I had no other reason to believe I was pregnant.
I've actually known two - count them two - women who did not know! One figured it out around 8 months and the other when she went into labor!
Both were larger girls to start with so the extra weight didn't show as much. They just thought (both of them) that their bodies were against them and despite dieting couldnt lose it. Both had irregular periods and had what they said were their periods the entire 9 months.
It's amazing. Both babies are healthy and beautiful and suffered no lasting effects of the actions of their unknowing mothers:)
I'm curious if this is her first child... a lot of the women on the show already have 2 or 3 children when they find out the big news that they're IN LABOR! I just don't see how you could not know, especially after having children already.

Because every pregnancy is different. With my son, I had no MS at all. This time I feel sick to my stomach all the freakin' time. I've never been there, and I'm sure that there are a few people who are in denial...but to assume that everyone who's been in that situation is in denial is pretty condesending.
I will say that if I knew I was pregnant and ended up with no bump like some of the girls on the show I'd be mighty disappointed! LOL

Oh, and btw..I WANTED a baby..so it wasnt denial.
?
Sorry if I insulted you. ?I have known a few people who were in denial for a while and hid their pregnancies from their families. ?But I don't think that's true for everyone in this situation. ?Every pregnancy is different so I can see how people who few or no symptoms might not realize it for many months. ?For me, I felt pregnant almost as soon as the baby implanted LOL?

What I think is crazy (and a tad bit amazing) is the fact that a good percentage of the women who didn't know they were pregnant and found out wayyyy far along have happy and very healthy babies.. Yet there are poor women out there who follow every rule to a T and still have a whole lot of issues.
I think you just have to think about it like this...WAAAY back in the day...before there was prenatal care...millions of babies were born healthy. Unfortunately...some werent, and still arent. I really do hope that everyone of us has healthy babies! My first, who I had not known about for the first 7 months, is completely healthy. This one...could have problems (because of my diabetes) even though I know right away. Though I hope it dosnt.
She's a tiny girl too....nothing to hide the bump!
Wait, what? So not only was she unaware, but everyone around her was unaware? I'm a tiny girl myself, and people can almost tell when my cycle is due to bloat - right now I look slightly pregnant just because of it. I can see how an overweight woman might not notice... but seriously, is the child incubating evenly throughout her body?
i know thissounds crazy but my cousin did not know until she delivered she had haer cycle the whole 9months and did not have m/s she didn't even get big I guess that's one of those medical mysteries

Gotcha... But just to be clear, I never said anything about these girls being in denial, that was another post, so I'm not the one who is condesending [sic]. Peace!
My MIL was like that when she was carrying my DH... although I have to wonder because she had already had a child before that and apparently had all the symptoms..... I know it can happen, but I just can't fathom it.
I find it super hard to believe that they did not get one single symptom. I'm only 8 weeks and lets take away the m/s and fatigue my boobs are already a different shape and are tender, nipples are larger and darker and I am emotional. I knew before my missed period I could just tell I felt different but maybe I am super observant when it comes to my body.
My cousin claims to have not known until the 7 month as well but I'm not sure how much of that is truth.

Believe it! Everyone is different... My mom (115-120lbs at the time) did not start showing with me until she was 5-6 months pregnant. Even at 8-9 months she had a neat little baby ball that protruded maybe three inches from her stomach. Pics to prove it! At the baby shower she had to wear a skin tight tank just so it would be obvious she was preg. Crazy stuff. I dunno where I was hiding in that little body!
Wow. I hear about things like that and wonder how it happens. I have a friend who didn't know until somewhere around Month 4 though.
She & her FI had gone through several rounds of stomach flu, and he had thrown up much more than she had. Since she'd been so sick, she figured she was only spotting instead of having regular periods. Between months 2 & 3 she was suspicious & took 2 PG tests -- both negative. She still didn't feel completely "normal" and went to the Doc 6 weeks later. Then she found out.
The baby is completely fine and healthy though. She had been drinking a little, but had cut way back due to all the 'stomach flu' so that's a good thing.
Re: How do you NOT know???
