Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Seriously, I am so tired of saying

"she's a girl"

EVERY.SINGLE.DAY someone says "oh he's so cute" or
"he's so handsome"  Are you Effing kidding me? SHE is wearing pink shoes and a barrett in her hair and most likely a pink shirt. One day I had 3 people comment on how cute my little boy was. It is getting really old.

Re: Seriously, I am so tired of saying

  • Maybe they think "he's" Emo??

    Whatever, she's adorable!

  • people are morons. SHE's adorable.

people used to mistake DS for a girl all the time, and he would be in blue from head to toe. i'll never understand it.

sorry, this cracked me up. What did you say?!

  • Ugh.  I get the opposite.  My baby boy is decked out in dark blue and I get "what a cute little girl!" .  Seriously, if there's any doubt, just say cute baby...

  • I totally feel your pain.  Even when she's in her pink stroller, wearing a dress with pink sandals...we get "oh is it a boy or girl?" and "aw he's so cute!".  It has gotten a lot better as she's gotten older, but I think that she still doesn't have much hair confuses people. :(
  • ummm...same issue. Today she was wearing a blue dress with flowers on it and someone was like...HE is so cute. THEN she was in her PINK polka dot pj's and someone referred to her as him again. Annoying!
  • I have the same problem, especially when she was younger. No matter how much pink she had on, people would ask if she was a boy.

When we were on holiday in the Dominican, everyone asked if she was a boy or girl. When I said "girl" they said "well why doesn't she have earrings?"  I guess the little dresses and pink outfits don't mean anything if you don't have earrings : )

  • I can relate. I don't get it a lot, but sometime ppl think DS is a boy. We were in the elevator at the mall the other day and some woman with kids said, "awww, she's looking at you."

My Mom always tells me that when my sister and I were babies (we are twins), we would be dresses in pink from head to toe with dresses and all that, and ppl would still think we were boys!

  • I know how you feel...people can be so dumb! I took my 2 yo to get his hair cut yesterday & the hairdresser asked him if Brody was his little sister. Umm, really? He was wearing all blue & sitting in a brown & black stroller! It wasn't the first time...sigh

  • We get this too.... last week on our cruise she was wearing PINK LADYBUGS and got called a boy, she has also been called a boy with a nice giant BOW in her hair. Hello people! I get she has no hair...that does not equal a boy.

She is sooo  adorable, people are just dumb.

  • When my DD was approximately 6 months old we were at church.

She was dressed in a dress and the her outfit was ALL pink.

An man came up to us and said, "Oh what a beautiful boy."

I said to myself are you for real.  I said thank you, but it's a girl.  He looked again and said who can tell.

When he walked away I said to DH - i dunno she is dressed all in pink - that would be a clue.

People don't pay attention.  To be honest if I don't know the sex (it sometimes happens) I keep my conversation gender neutral.

Sorry - DD is now 2 and I still get people who are confused.  I don't see how - but it happens.

on a completely unrelated note, I love LOVE LOVE her bathtime mohawk. we do that with DD whenever we put sunscreen on her head (she hates wearing a hat)

Thanks! I do it after every bath. It is amazing how long it is getting! That is how I can tell her hair is growing. =)

  • I think I have seen bibs or onesies that say, "I am not a girl/boy".  Perfect, then they would HOPEFULLY not screw it up....
  • People are ridiculous.

DD even had a ton of hair and was wearing it in pigtails from the time she was 5 months old.... I still got comments about what an "adorable boy" she was. Did I mention she also had earrings and was always in a dress???

Meanwhile DS now has a mohawk and is usually sporting a blue superherp shirt of some kind but all I hear is "how cute! Girl or boy?".

    Yep, ridiculous.

    DD born 2007 & DS born 2008
  • People are just too dumb to pay attention to the clothing color. I usually have Kate's pink blankie with us and people still think she is a boy.

  • Wow, she doesn't even look like a boy.  I know what you mean though I have had similar comments.  Once DD was wearing a girly outfit that just happened to be blue. She had a bow in her hair, was sitting in a pink car seat, next to her pink diaper bag, and some lady said "he sure does like that pink".  I said she's a girl, all the while though I was thinking omg is she serious?
