Re: What do you think when you hear...

  • I think it is a bit cumbersome....I like Aubrey but not so much Irelyn

  • I like Aubrey but IMO it does not flow with Irelyn.

I would like it paired with a more class simple name-Jane, Elizabeth,etc...but that's just my taste!

    I don't know what I think. I love Aubrey but not Irelyn./

  • They don't flow well together.
  • I think the parents tried to spell Ireland, but wanted to name the baby after someone named Lynn.

I love Audrey and I think it flows OK with Irelyn.

    What about Audrey Evelyn??

  • Aubrey is pretty but NMS. Irelyn sounds like a bad take on Ireland, especially when you just think of the word "ire" for what it really means. Seems very negative.
  • I think those two names don't go together.  To be honest, I don't think Irelyn goes with anything...

  • Aubrey is NMS, and I'm a little unsure of Irelyn Confused  I agree with the pp about pairing either name with something simpler, i.e., Aubrey Jane.
  • Aubrey is NMS.  And I don't like Irelyn at all.

Aubrey is adorable. Irelyn is very strange.?
  • I like Aubrey but Irelyn is NMS; too trendy and made-up.

  • I, too, think of Ireland and I think you (or she) would be constantly correcting people even though not as frequently as you would if it were a first name.  In any case, I don't like it with Aubrey.

  • Aubrey is on our short list.  I really don't like the middle name though.

We don't have a middle name yet - but here are some options:

    Aubrey Grace
    Aubrey Jane
    Aubrey Claire
    Aubrey Rose

  • I think " why is Ireland spelled/pronounced like that?"

  • that she must have lame parents who tried to be overly creative with the middle name and picked something stupid and then spelled it horribly with the dreaded unnecessary Y
  • Saying that together makes my mouth hurt.  I'd go with one or the other along with a simpler name.... Grace, Jane, Mae, Anne, Rose, etc.

This.  If you have to go with a place, Aubrey Ireland is at least recognizable.  I like the suggestion of Aubrey Evelyn if you like the sounds in Ireland.  Or Aubrey Iris if you like the "Ire."

  • I think it is fine. I love the name Aubrey and Irelyn...but it is a little of a mouthfull. By the way, What's up with "gibs" comment??? she needs to get a life. She was way rude on my posting as well.
  • Thanks for your comment.  The bad thing is that our last name is a mouthful too!  Maybe I'll keep her name one syllable!

I assumed gibs has the pregnancy grumpies and is taking it out on strangers instead of her husband (which is what I do!)  Big Smile
