She's waking up earlier! WDYT?

Natalie used to wake up 6-6:30 a.m.  The last few days she's started getting up at 5:30 a.m.  She doesn't cry or anything, just starts playing so we let her play until 6 when we'd normally get up (although I still loose that 30 min of sleep because I can hear her playing the whole time).  Is there a way to get her to go back to sleeping in a little later?  Her bedtime hasn't changed (In crib by 7:30 p.m.).  She does seem to be sucking on her hands and drooling a lot lately so I think she has a tooth coming in -- could this cause her to STTN but get up early?

Thanks!

  • You have the room darkened right?  I think I remember you showing me your drapes.  That would be my only advice.  Lately Eli has been waking up earlier too, and I think that's why.  I'm still searching for darkening curtains that I like, until then we hung blankets.  It seems to be helping.  But it could be the teeth too.

Thanks for responding!  Yes, we do have room darkening curtains.  I'll just see how things go over the next couple of days to see if it turns out to be teething related.

  • Is she napping any longer during the day? or falling asleep for her daytime nap later meaning she wakes up from it later?  otherwise, could certainly be teeth-especially if her molars are coming in.  have you tried giving her motrin at bedtime to see if that helps?  Sorry--I feel for you!
