TTC after 35

Transfer moved to Saturday =(

They said that the embryologist said that the egg looked "good" but that it was "growing slower than they would like" so they want to move it to Saturday.  Apparently it is only 6 cells now and they want it to be 8.  Does anyone know whether the odds decrease with a 5 day transfer?  I'm trying not be devastated, but after going thru IVF and only getting one egg, I'm feeling like this was a kick to the gut.

I know at my clinic, a 5 day transfer is the goal.

This will give your little one a chance to grow out a bit before they put it back.

I know you have a lot riding on this little guy and it is easier for me to say this, but try really, really hard not to worry about data and statistics at this point.  One of the hardest things to deal with is the fact that it is all out of your hands at this point.

I normally want to punch people who tell me to relax, but you really do want to be as relaxed as possible for your transfer.  You want a nice, comfy place to put back that embryo.

Clearly this little guy is a fighter!  Try to have faith in that.

    Good luck! :)

  • Chin up: a 5 day transfer is NOT a bad thing. At my RE they prefer the 5 day as well, as the embie has more time to develop and they have a better sense by then as to how it's doing.

As you know with my IVF #1 I put back 3, 2 looked really good and 1 not so great. They put them back on day 5 - and I have a gorgeous DD today!!

  • At my clinic the 5DT is the goal too.  They prefer the 5 day when there are several to choose from - it helps them to pick the best embriees.  Their success rates are actually HIGHER with the 5 day.

Please try to focus positive thoughts on your little rock star.  I know that is easier said than done.  At this point it is so frustrating because it is totally out of your control.
Like Smillee said - try to stay relaxed and postive.

Sending truckloads of embaby growing dust to you :)

  • Thanks all (she replied, teary eyed with her umpteenth hormonal outbreak for the day)!  In all seriousness you guys are the best!  I don't know how women got thru this stuff before boards existed!  I like what smilee said...my little lone egg must be a fighter!!  I'm holding on to that.
