Ergo Help

If you have an ergo, how low do you wear it? At SmartMomma, they said it should be around the widest part of your hips, but on the directions, the people look like they have it around their belly button? I didn't read in there anything about placement?

  • I wear mine above my hips, I think.  It's more at waist level for me.  Here's a pic where you can see where it is on me.

  • I am going to try both and see what is more comfortable once she is in it. I just got mine in the mail from ebay and it looks brand new!! I got the sport one. I hope she likes it, she can hold her head up really well and I  think this will be more cozy for her than the bjorn.

  • I tried one on at The Red Hen on Tuesday and the waist part was around my hips. I LOVED IT! I carried Maddie into the store in her Bjorn, and once I switched her to the Ergo it was like she weighed 5 lbs again. I'm not sure I would've liked it when she was tiny b/c it's so big, but I am going to love it now for sure :).

  • I have a Beco and it's nearly identical, and I wear it around my hips as well.  That's where the support comes from.  Good luck! :)

  • Ergo=FAIL!!!

Total NIGHTMARE!! She screamed bloody murder for 20 minutes after I tried it. She just hates being worn, period. I am going to try it again in the morning and see how it goes. I swear this child must be the only one on the planet that hates being worn. Waaahhhh.

Oh no! I wouldn't give up just yet. Maddie hated being worn facing in until she was about 8 months old. She is world's least cuddly baby, so I thought she would never enjoy being worn, but she really seems to like it now.

  • Did you try leaving the house?  I'd put her in it and then go outside.  The distraction of being outside may help.  I remember when I first started wearing Nate in the Moby when he was a newborn, he'd always scream when I first put him in there.  I'd start walking really fast, go outside, or start vacuuming and eventually he'd settle down.  Now he loves being worn and almost never complains about it.
  • Ditto vacuuming...this really calms Luke down and he usually falls asleep in the sling while I am wearing him around the house.
