2nd Trimester

anyone found a solution to pregnancy headaches?

Sometimes a nap helps- but that isn't always possible

Water hasn't helped.

I'll take tylenol if it gets bad.

Anyone else have any secrets?

Re: anyone found a solution to pregnancy headaches?

  • an ice pack on my head helps me.  My doctor said to increase my protein intake too and that has helped.
  • Loading the player...
  • Tell DH to stop talking ... LOL! J/K!

I have no real help, since Tylenol doesn't do anything for me. I just try to lay in the dark with a fan on. Some times it works, sometimes not.

  • I don't have any advice, but I'm hoping someone does.  I was just ready to post this, seeing as I have a massive headache at this very moment.
    ...
  • My doctor recommended Coke.  It has helped me so far.
  • WATER!!!!!!

I went to my doctor for my terrible migraines b/c i didnt think i could 9 months of this (i suffer from nasty migraines pre pregnancy).. she told me to try to drink a lot more water a day and if that doesn't help she'll put me on heavier medications..

well i originally drank  about 4 bottles of water a day and now i drink anywhere between 6 to 8 and i have not had one headache.  The only time they come back is if i'm extremely stressed or if i eat a lot of chocolate.

but try drinking a lot more water...

  • Tylenol and caffeine,
  • Since Tylenol rarely works for me, sleep is honestly the only thing that has helped.

Which I know is unhelpful, since most people can't sleep at work -- myself included.

    Tylenol.

    this.

which doesn't always help me, so i have to revert to going to bed early. :-/

  • tylenol with regular coca-cola
  • Ok I know you might think I'm a little crazy when I say this, but try the jalapeno slices that come in a jar. I'm not even kidding! they have been my serious craving food. I've been eating them daily and have not had one single headache or any heartburn.  I was worried about eating so many of them and looked up the health benefits and it actually says that jalapenos are full of capcaicin which is a natural headache cure and also help with gastrointestinal problems.  Go figure! They also help prevent ulcers.

But in the event you can't stomach them, when I've gotten severe headaches pre-pregnancy, running my head under cold water really helped a lot. A few times I had to go to the hospital because they were so bad and everytime they gave me pure oxygen through the nasal canula my headaches went away in 5 mins. (not saying to run off to the hospital) so try some serious deep breathing!

    Tylenol and caffeine,

This, my Dr said half a coke will do wonders more than Tylenol alone, and he is totally correct.

  • I went to my Doctor because I read online it could be because my body isnt getting enough Iron. They tested me for Anemia and said I was fine. She said to just drink caffeine if I get a headache and rest! Its worked for me so far. She said to do that before taking tylenol if I can.
  • I used to take excedrin for pre-pregnancy migraines and one of the main ingredients is caffeine, so anything caffeinated, I think alot of ladies suggested coke which has worked for me to take the edge off. And I also use a cream called 'sensory therapy' you rub it on your temples, and earlobes and it has such a soothing smell it helps with headaches when I first feel them coming on. Hope your headaches are gone soon, I have a massive one at the moment.Sad
