Spotting...?

Is it possible to have spotting due to ovulation?  I'm on CD 11 which would be early for ovulation in general, but my pp AFs have been so crazy (anything from 26 days to 35 days long in a cycle) I guess anything is possible.  I had a regular period & bled for 4 days, then 2 days of spotting after that, then 4 days of nothing, & now I'm feeling cramps & spotting again.  WTF?  It's NOT implantation spotting, you have to have sex to get pg, so I know that's not the culprit.

I am so frustrated.  If I start having these wild cycles again I am going to cry.  Any ideas of what else this could be?  I'd google for more info if I even knew what to put in to search for, y'know?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help on this.

Re: Spotting...?

  • OH NO!  I shouldn't have googled "mid cycle spotting".  It's different than what I used to have due to PCOS, but it could be related to that, or, perhaps even worse, this could be the beginnings of perimenopause.  FRICK!

    My body sucks.  Sad

  • After my D&C last year, my AF was pretty much exactly like you're describing.  My OB said it was due to hormonal imbalance, and suggested going back on BCP to regulate it.  I chose not to, and then we got PG with Gabriel in September/October.

I guess that wasn't really the info you were looking for, was it?  I'd talk to your OB, and see what he or she thinks.

  • it is possible to have ovulation spotting from what i remember.
  • I have heard of ovulation spotting too!  I would see if it is just a one cycle thing or if it starts happening regularly and call my OB if it did.
  • I have definitely heard that you can spot during Ovulation - when the egg breaks loose from the CL, it sometimes causes enough of a rupture to bleed a little.
  • I often have spotting around that time of my cycle.  I attribute it to a shift in hormones...it is usually about the same time I get my first "high" readings with the CBEFM which indicates a rise in estrogen.  Don't google it.  Mid-cycle spotting can be very very common.
