North Carolina Babies

I hate Bob and the Showgram

They had a psychiatrist on this morning and she was talking about the 10 things you need to talk about with your partner before having a baby.  I really wanted to hear the 10 questions to see if they were things we discussed or maybe see if it was something we never thought about.  Stupid Bob couldn't shut his mouth talking about himself - the lady got out 4 questions and they ran out of time and she had to just rush through the last 6 with a summary.  And I even missed that because I had to go in to work, and I have a 50 minute drive in.  50 minutes and they could not get through 10 questions!  Lame.

Re: I hate Bob and the Showgram

  • I heard part of it yesterday (I can't remember what they were talking about though) and I was thinking "WTF is going on with this morning show?!?!"  It was so stupid.  Somehow I had flipped my radio to the FM2 program and I thought I was listening to Mix 101.5, but instead it was 105.1.  I was soooo relieved when I realized it was G105 because I was really worried about Bill & Linda for a few minutes there.

  • I was listening to that this morning and actually wrote everything down, cause I'm a dork like that!  Geeked

They only talked about 6 things total, the first three of which you probably heard.

    1) How do you feel about CIO and at what age should you begin?

    2) How do you feel about breastfeeding and how long do you think it should be done?

    3) How do you feel about getting up with the baby in the middle of the night for diaper changes and feedings? Should one person take more of a responsibility for it than another?

    4) How do you feel about spanking?

    5) How do you feel about co-sleeping?

    6) What will you specifically do to aid the baby's development?

  • They are what drove me to discover NPR a few years ago... I just don't get into morning comedy shows. I either want music or news, not them. They're just not my style Stick out tongue
  • I guess I heard the first 5... I don't know I just feel like it could have been a great discussion and good information if he would have let the psychiatrist talk.  I am going to check out her website and theirs to see if they posted everything.

And ECU, too funny about worrying about the hosts!  I never listen to the radio in the morning, or if we carpool DH listens to XM, so I dont know why I turned it on, but it sucked.

  • I also don't like morning shows in general -- I want to hear either music or news.  It drives me nuts how much the hosts just talk about nothing or themselves.  Usually in the mornings when I'm driving I listen to CDs to avoid morning programs.

  • Gosh, I couldn't stand them when I lived in the Triangle and the two years after that where I still got Triangle radio stations.  I don't like morning shows in general, but they'd be my #1 *really* don't like.  It was "Bob and Mike" at the time, if I recall correctly.  I heard a story a few years ago of them setting up something really dangerous on the interstate clearly just to get ratings from the fallout.  I want to hear NPR or music, not people who just like the sound of their own voices, you know?  Really, I loved NPR on my morning commute for years; I liked feeling that I learned something in those 22 tired minutes every morning. ;)

These would have been my husband's answers if we had discussed these issues beforehand:

    1) How do you feel about CIO and at what age should you begin? Huh?

    2) How do you feel about breastfeeding and how long do you think it should be done?  I like breasts and think they should be bared for as long as possible.

    4) How do you feel about spanking?  Yes please.

    5) How do you feel about co-sleeping? I like sleeping with you, except when you kick me.

I don't remember that, but for awhile it was "Bob and Madison" and I never understood why Madison worked with him.  I'm sure he's why she eventually left for her own show on 93.9.

I *think* Madison was there at the time but that her name didn't get moved to the title until after Mike was let go.  I actually didn't know Madison had left, but that's one topic where I *really* don't mind being behind the times! ;)   And the scary thing is I can only imagine they got more obnoxious as the years went on; I moved out of the area in 1999, but in the years right after that I had very occasional drives through the Triangle as well (though I'd change the channel as soon as I got annoyed and realized what I was listening to).  They just need to get over themselves, IMHO.  I never knew anyone who admitted to liking them..."admitted to" probably being the key words. ;)
