My son had two Addison's on his soccer team. One female, One male. Decided if you like the popularity of the name and are okay with a gender neutral name.
I like it... DH loves it and thinks we should name our first girl Addison problem is his sister loves it too and said already that even if we have a girl first and name her Addison she is going to name her first girl Addison too... not something I want my child to deal with!
I like Addison and I think Addy is a cute nn.... Good luck!

I like it for a boy but of course would never use it since the girls are taking it over. I think it's kind of weird to name daughters names that end in -son.
Its so strange to me that this name is becoming so popular now. My mom was a second grade teacher and she had a little girl named Addison, and her nn was Addy and she was the sweetest girl- I think I was about 14 or 15 when she had her in class. I loved the name from that point on. When DH and I began to talk about future children I put out Addison and it took a while but he warmed up to the name about 2 years ago. We havn't made any decisions but if we have a girl that is one of the names on our short list. I give it a thumbs up for both a girl or boy- since this past year I had in class a Joey (girl) an Avery (girl), an Ashton (boy) this year. It seems names are much more acceptable for both boys and girls and no one makes a big deal about it.
I've always loved that name but for a boy, not a girl.
Same here. I'm used to the "son" names for girls but don't really get it. Parents of boys would never use a name that had the word "daughter" in it or meant "daughter of ___" LOL
beautiful, adorable, cute - but mature when it needs to be, popular right now, but IMO, I'd still use it. I haven't met many Addisons and I'm a teacher - but I have heard of quite a few...all pretty young. If popularity matters to you, check out the tools on the babynamewizard.com site like the mapper. It's pretty helpful!
Hate it with a passion. I can't see the name without thinking of someone dying horribly of Addison's Disease. Plus, it also makes me think of people who have no thought beyond a popular TV show. Harsh, but I really hate the name.
I like Addison but it IS becoming super popular. If that doesn't bother you though, go for it. I like a name (Ava) that's apparently really popular although I had no idea since I've never known anyone with that name.
Re: wdyt of the name addison?
ditto

I know it's common, but I love it anyway!
LOVE IT!!!!!
Our #1 choice for a girl is Addison Faith
Addison is ok but super trendy. I don't think it goes well with your other kids names either....of the names on your list I like Lucia.
BTW my DS name is Rocco
I think it's awful, too popular, and I just don't see what's appealing about it.
