Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

15.5 mos - no walking... worry yet?

Should I start calling Early Intervention yet?  My oedi said not till after 16 mos, but I know it takes a while to get an evaluation from them.  I am not really *worried*, but I feel like an eval can't hurt either...

Late walker mommies, what are you gonna do?

  • Most peds. don't worry until 18 months. DD started walking on her 17-month birthday.

  • I have heard the range is up to 18 months but my take is if it would make you feel better then go for it.
  • DD started walking at 15 1/2 months! dont' worry till after 18mos
  • DD started at 16 months.  Now we can't keep up with her. ha ha ha!  Pedi wasn't worried until 18 months.

  • DS literally started walking the night we picked him up after leaving the hospital from having DD. He had just turned 16 months

Is your DC cruising/walking with assistance?  If so I wouldn't worry yet

  • We were referred to early intervention at 11.5 months and it took a month for first therapy session.  However at 11.5 months DD was not pulling up yet.
  • I guess I'd be a little concerned if he wasn't standing/cruising because then it would seem like he isn't making any progress toward walking, you know?  DS just started walking at 15 months but I really wasn't too worried because he had been cruising for 2 months at that point.
