I know this question was probably asked numerous times, however, I wanted to know if anywhere is aware of the actual waiting time for adoption approval in NJ? I am trying to get a sense of the wait after the home inspection and necessary trainings?
What are your experiences in other states?
Re: Licensing Wait Time- NJ
Are you talking foster care? That's the only time a person would be "licensed" in NJ.
If you are talking straight adoption, it depends on the agency you are using. Some have high caseloads and/or are inefficient (in which case you'll most likely wait several months, almost a year), while others can turn your homestudy around in about 2 months or so.
Once you have your homestudy approval, you would then start your international process or put together a domestic profile and "go active" waiting for a match domestically. Waiting for a successful match can take anywhere from a few days to multiple years.
I'm sorry there's no more precise information to offer you. What type of adoption are you considering?
