Any experiences with SitterCity?

I am not sure what my work schedule is going to be after the baby arrives but I don't think I am going to need full time care.  I haven't been able to find any daycare or MDO in my area or nearby that will take infants part time.  I am very reluctant to use a Nanny because of the lack of oversight, but I am finding it may be the best option unless I want to pay a daycare for full time care when my child will not attend full time.

Has anyone had any experiences with Sitter City or with being in a similar situation?  Any help or advice is appreciated!

  • I like Care.com much better.  I have 2 sitters who are looking for a nanny gig - either FT or PT.

I can tell you who to stay away from as well - our former nanny:  https://www.hcnonline.com/articles/2008/10/22/humble_observer/news/43hodefamation.txt

  • Thanks Harmony!  I'll check out the website you mentioned.  I won't need someone until end of February so if your girls are still available, I'd definitely like to get their info.  When would you suggest I start interviewing people?  I guess it's a little different than daycare where you want to try to secure a spot ASAP.
  • For February...I'd probably start in December/January.

  • Txharony - OMG...I assume you found this after you figured out the other lie? That is so scary and freaking crazy. We were honestly thinking about getting a nanny, but I saw your posting a while back as well as an issue a neighbor had and it has made me want to steer clear forever...sad I know because there are some good ones out there!

Yeah, after I talked to her church the first, we found this article.  It all went downhill from there.

There really are some very good nannies out there.  Rayskit, PAGAS and BPaullo are very happy with theirs and I admit, I absolutely loved ours.  I wouldn't write out getting another nanny, I just need some time to recover from this one.
