Sorry for all of my "need your opinion" posts lately. We're in full planning mode, especially with me heading back to work in a month and grad classes starting again the same week for me. And I'm the type of person that these "small" life decisions are the hardest for me, so thanks for your help ![]()
Anyway, a few weeks ago I posted the PBK bedding that I had found on sale and purchased before we knew what we were having. While I still love it, part of me isn't sure if I want to use it for a girl, although I know it would work fine. We're also trying not to repaint since we do love the color so I'm trying to work around that as well. So your opinion--what bedding do you like best for baby girl?
Our paint color is SW Rain 6219. I couldn't get the swatch online to work right, so think robin egg blue.
1. PBK Stork Collection - see pictures here. Have to return by 7/30.
2. Lily & Serena Frances Collection - see pictures here. I saw it in the catalog a while ago and then found out that it is 50% off. I've ordered a swatch of the fabrics. I think it will either completely clash or work well with the blue color. Love this one if it works with the paint. Swatch should be here any day.
3. Land of Nod Morning Collection - see pictures here. Again this is neutral, but the yellow would be pretty with the blue. Again back to gender neutral. Maybe this is less boyish than the PBK set?
4. Bananafish Love Bird - see pictures here. I proabably would do a light green or yellow fitted sheet instead of pink. I guess I'm not as sold on this one as the bumper has the part I like the best out of this set and we wouldn't be using it as much or for that purpose.
Any and all thoughts and ideas welcome! And we're definitely going with a dark/espresso finish for our furniture.
Edit: I would probably save myself a ton of time if I left this up to DH. I just sent him an email at work with the two sets I found this morning (Land of Nod/Bananafish) and he had a very clear cut yes-no answer within seconds. And the same for the first two options. Wish I could think like a man sometimes!
Re: Back to bedding
PBK and LoveBird are my favorites. I'm afraid Frances will be too periwinkle against the blue paint, and the Morning collection is too neutral and lacking the cuteness factor for me.
I see what you mean about the LoveBird bumper though -- that is one of the best parts. Could you transform it into a wall decoration or valence somehow?
FWIW, we tortured ourselves over bedding and nursery theme for WEEKS.
I know exactly how you feel. Bedding was the hardest thing for me to decide on. Mostly because I knew everything else I picked would be centered around it. And like you I didn't want to re-paint the room. In the end it all worked out and I LOVE how the room is coming along (hopefully I'll have some pics up in my blog this week).
My favorite is option number 4. I really love the bird theme and think it will look great with the blue. I know what you mean about the bumper too. That was a fav part of our bedding too but we weren't going to use it so I ended up not buying it.
Good luck with your decision! So which ones did DH like?

DH is happy with the PBK set - most likely because he liked it from the beginning, we have it, and can't understand my craziness! He doesn't like the morning sun one b/c he thinks it is too boyish. Won't comment on the L&S until the swatch gets here and didn't like the 4th option because "the PBK set is just as good."
However, I'm sure I can persuade him whichever way I decide to go. He'll just be happy when I'm done with this whole bedding ordeal.
Christina- I do love the bird idea, especially with a mobile or something!
This is exactly what I was thinking. After posting this, emailing DH and my mom, I sat there thinking...is this bedding really going to matter when my daughter is here? Probably not.
As silly as it is, I feel like it is a "rite of pregnancy passage" that I want to participate in, decorating the nursery. Frivalous? Maybe....but fun, so oh well! Good point though on upping the accessories and wall decor. I like the idea of the wall stickies, quotes etc!
I completely understand the agony in making all these nursery decisions. I was that way during my first pregnancy. We spent a ton of money on the crib bedding and the crib and even put hard wood floors down in the nursery!!! It's not as though the baby cares, but we did it all.
As for my opinion, I like #4. I tend to migrate toward the pink stuff though, so I think that's why I like that best of all your choices.
As for a stroller and car seat, we went with a turquoise in case we had a boy the second time around. Since we're having another girl, that didn't really matter, but the stuff will work for her too. As for the crib bedding for baby #2, I have a set that was given to me at a baby shower that I've never opened. It's not something I'm in love with, but I'll bust it out when we get the nursery ready....YEP, NURSERY HASN'T EVEN BEEN STARTED YET! The only thing I'm debating is whether or not I'll steal Nina's crib bedding and use for the baby and give Nina the new stuff or just use the new stuff on the baby. Nina's in a room with a different paint color now and I need to decide which bedding works best with her new room (either will work with the nursery). Oh, Nina's still in her crib. I intend to leave her there until she shows an interest in getting out...which hasn't happened yet
