I am finding it incredibly hard to keep my numbers down after b-fast. The only way I can keep them in the normal range is if I only eat protein. This morning I had a decaf coffee with sweetener and 1 T of cream + 1/2 c of dry cheerios and my numbers were 8.6 (about 170). If I have two eggs, scrambled, and a cold tea, then I am able to keep them at about 5.5 (110 or so). I am tired of only having nuts or eggs for breakfast. Dr. has put me on 4 of Humulog before breakfast, but it doesn't seem to help that much. For the rest of the day I am okay.
I am bored of food, eating has become a chore! And I am a foodie!!!
Anyone else having problems like this?
Re: Ugh! Blood sugar at breakfast!
i have a hard time with bfast too unless i eat like 2 or 3 protien to my carbs.
if i have eggs, cheese, and bacon on a sandwich my #s are great
but if i have a protien shake then they are awful.
i'm now up to 7 units from my humalog with each meal and let me tell you i am about sick of eggs lol!
For breakfast I eat:
1 egg or 2 egg whites, 1/2 a light multi grain english mufffin, 2 slices of bacon, 1 cup of coffee with 1/2 Spenda and sugar free creamer. My numbers usually fall about 95-110 after breakfast (1hr. testing).
Don't know if it helps...
blood sugar levels peak in the morning.
i had eggs and meat every day. it got old fast, but you do what you have to! soon your babies will be here and it will be a distant memory.
GL with the rest of your pregnancies.
Eggs are the one things that I shove down my throat in the morning. ?Usually, I can also have a small bowl of cereal (but I don't drink the milk- that pushes me over the limit... Instead I let my cats enjoy it lol), a normal sized muffin (not those huge ones, but not those mini ones either) or 2 whole wheat waffles with sugar free syrup. ?It gets really boring, but that's why I try to mix it up a little with different types of cereal and different types of muffin.
BTW, if I skip the eggs, my numbers are still fine, but then the numbers drop dramatically. ?My doctor told me that I MUST have protein with my meals- whether it be from eggs, peanut butter (he said just a spoonful is fine) or a piece of cheese (the size of a pat of butter works.)
GL.?
