  • QOTD:  I'm not really concerned about PPD.  There is no family history of it either.  MH isn't really worried about me PP, lol, I think he's more worried about the baby!  :)

  • I haven't checked in to say my baby was here!

I was due on 8/3 but on 7/3 my little girl decided she wanted to see the fireworks!  Katherine Grace was born miraculously perfectly healthy weighing in at 5 pounds 1 ounce and 17.25 inches long.  She came home with me from the hospital on time :).

It has been almost 3 weeks and we feel like the luckiest parents ever.  She is eating well, gaining weight well, and just a joy.

I am so excited for all of you and your August babies!  It is really amazing and so wonderful.  Best wishes to you all! :)

  • Carter Michael was born on July 13th via emergency c-section due to pre-e and HELLP.  He was 3lbs 10oz, 17.5 inches.  Luckily i had steroid shots a few weeks ago when in the hospital at the time for possible pre-e.  He had one patially collapsed lung but was fine within an hour or two.  He just needs to learn to eat now...then he can come home.   Link to his blog below if anyone is interested in checking out his (thankfully) smooth experience in the NICU.

Oh, and i didn't have a choice, but i wish i could have had a vaginal delivery instead of c-section.  not to scare anyone, but the C hurt more than i expected....tho even my doc said she thinks the meds weren't strong enough.

  • I am pretty concerned about PPD. I have suffered from depression/anxiety for most of my life and I got really sick with it at age 18 and had to leave college, come home and switch to a different college and live at home. My Grandma was bi-polar so we have a bad family history. Hopefully I can manage!!

Really scared today...been having what i call contractions since 3am. I timed them for a bit and its been 8-10 minutes apart for the past 5 hours. I am getting ready to leave for a doc appt and i guess i will have to give in and get the internal. Booooo...

They feel like a wave of pain that goes from my very low tummy, almost under my belly and travels to my bum-hole, making me feel like i have to poo. Its not bad pain, but its not comfy either..lol. Seems too early for contractions, so hopefully they go away and i can get another week in!!! ahhhhhhhh

  • I haven't really thought about it but hopefully all will go well.

  • Wednesday QOTD: I'm not too worried about it.  My mother had the baby blues for a few days with my older brother, but she also had no one around to help her (my father wasn't any help), so it was stress too.  I don't think DH has given it any thought.
  • Monday QOTD: In a non-emergency situation,  would you rather be induced or have a c/s? At what point past your edd would you ask to be induced?

I, for no real reason, am terrified of C-sections. My mom delieved me vaginally and my brothers (twins) by c-section, and tells me all of the time that the recovery was not any harder. But still. Ideally, I would like to avoid both (since inductions have a higher chance of C-Section) But, would prefer an induction if I had to choose. Past my EDD, I would expect my doctors to suggest the appropriate time to get things moving, and would trust them assuming everything was explained well to me.

Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?

I have also had trouble with anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember. Right before the start of 3rd tri, I was weaned off of my medicine. I think this time will be the same as it was with DD... they started me back on the medication while still in the hospital. So, I had a couple of "blue" days when I got home, but was lucky to have a lot of help and support. After a week or so, I was feeling mostly normal, aside from being a tad overwhelmed as a mom with a new baby! Hopefully all will be ok.

  • Went to the doctor yesterday. She said I'm still dilated only 1cm, but there has been progress as I'm thinned out a lot more and the baby has moved way down. She also guesses the baby is at about 7.5lbs! :)

As far as PPD worries go, I am worried about it. There is no family history that I know of PPD, but my mother has suffered with being bi-polar, depression, anxiety, etc. I have voiced my concerns of developing PPD with my doctor & my DH. My DH isn't too concerned, he says "you're nothing like your Mom & you're not even moody when you're PMS-ing" But still, I know that has nothing to do with PPD. I recieved information on it at my appointment yesterday and put it on the refrigerator. Hopefully since I'm trying to be well informed and my husband is getting informed if I was to develop it we would catch it right away.

  • Good morning, everyone!!

I'm a bit worried about PPD because I've gone through a period of clinical depression (several years ago) and there's a family history of depression in my family. But my husband is aware of that and will keep an eye on me. But, overall, I'm not too worried.

I'm going for my 38 week appointment today and may get an estimate of my baby's weight. I just wish my hands and feet weren't so swollen. I'll mention to my OB... and I wish water retention didn't count towards weight gain. LOL.

And I know JacquiD03-14-2008 and wanted to give an update: She's being induced today because her little girl is measuring small and the peri wants her out now.

  • Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?

I'm not too worried about it.  I can't ever imagine myself being depressed because that's just not me.  I'm probably one of the most positive, laid-back, optimistic people I know, lol.  I don't know of any family history and I think DH is more worried about his sanity post-partum than mine, lmao.  To be honest, I am, too!  He's very anxious & high-strung while I am the complete opposite.

  • I had not worried about it but now realize depression does run in my family so I should be prepared.  However, I will have a lot of help as my hubby will be off for a month with me and my mom plans on having the first week with us.
  • I'm full term today! Still sleeping well, no swelling, and a 7 pound total weight gain. My mom had very easy pregnancies, so I might have taken after her. Plus, it feels like Fall in the Midwest, so I have had a very comfortable summer to be pregnant during.

QOTD: Depression runs in my family, so I am definitely going to be very proactive when it comes to PPD. My mom didn't have it, but that doesn't mean I won't.

  • Good mornign ladies!! Happy Wednesday!

I'm not too worried about PPD. No family history. I know anything can happen- but I am not usually a depressed or "down" person. I did warn DH about the baby blues that most women get so he will be a little prepared if I am a little blue for a week or two.

36 week check-up today! I'm not sure if today will be my first internal or not.

Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?

I'm not worried at all, as I have not experienced it before and I don't have a family history. My DH isn't worried about the after-birth stuff, we're just looking forward to meeting our son :)

  • Not much is going on here.  I've been sick for the last couple of days with some sort of stomach thing--went home early both Monday and Tuesday and am still not at 100% but I'm still at work anyway.  On Monday I was still not dilated at all, but I've been having contractions on and off all day for the last few days--which gives me at least a little bit of hope.  Lost what I think was my MP on Monday.  I have a check-up tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have made some progress by then.  I've been getting more and more depressed as the days go on, and I've also developed some major lower back pain (thank goodness for heating pads)--my goal is to have a baby this week!

Monday QOTD: In a non-emergency situation,  would you rather be induced or have a c/s? At what point past your edd would you ask to be induced?  I would have an induction any day over a c/s.  I really don't want a c/s.  And heck with waiting until after the EDD to ask for an induction.  LO is already over 8 lbs, so I'm going to try for one tomorrow.  My doctor isn't going to wait until after my due date to induce b/c of size, so it may be the day of.

Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?  I am somewhat worried about PPD; I already have depression, which has continually worsened in the last few weeks.  My doctor and DH know to keep an eye on me though, so hopefully we'll have it well under control.
  • Not really worried about getting PPD. I don't think my DH is either. Been having some discomfort the fast few days with random contractions. 37w appt today, next week after our growth U/S the Dr. will start talking about when we will be inducing. (I have GD).
  • QOTD:  I realize that you never know until you get there, but I really don't think that PPD will be an issue for me.  I don't have any history of depression, nor does any of my immediate family.  I'm so dang tickled to death and excited about LO's arrival that I can't imagine my emotions getting flipped around like that.  Sure, times will be tough and frustrating at times, but I am a very logical and reasonable person who will understand that the hard times are not her fault or mine.  Plus, I am going to be a SAHM, so thank god I don't have to worry about a job on top of things.

As far as pregnancy updates, DH has been out of the country for work for the past week and a half.  He is finally coming home today!  I am so glad, because I have been crampy and am starting to spot (losing part of MP?).  I've been so worried that I would go into labor while he was gone.  Now I can be excited instead of nervous with signs of progression!

  • Monday QOTD: In a non-emergency situation,  would you rather be induced or have a c/s? At what point past your edd would you ask to be induced? I'm hoping to have a vaginal birth, but what will be will be. I don't want to be induced at all. I have heard nothing but bad things about being induced, so I will go until I have to. Boys are usually early in my family though, so one can hope...right? :)

Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?  I'm not worried about it. I did really well with DD and i'm hoping that she's a big help for me. DH has probably never heard of PPD, so he's definitely not worried about it. If I did have problems, then he would definitely be worried, but I think i'll be fine.
  • Not really worried. With my first pregnancy I was pretty emotional afterwards, but not depressed. I think it was more of a hormonal let down and feeling a bit overwhelmed. This pregnancy i've been emotional throughout so we'll see how I do afterwards.

Yesterday DH and I washed and put away baby clothes, finished wall letters for both boys fixed the ceiling fan and installed a dimmer switch in LO's room. All in all, a pretty productive day. I think it finally hit us that we just have a couple of weeks left. (Unless my mom is right and I go into labor this weekend)

  • Wow! Congrats to all the August babies already making their way into the world!!!

I haven't thought that much about PPD...cross that bridge if we come to it (hopefully we never do!).

  • Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?

I'm not worried about it. I don't think we have any family history of it. And, I don't think my husband is very worried either. Even if I get it, I'm sure I'll be fine. I deal with worse on a daily basis.

  • QOTD: I've thought a little about PPD, only because I was getting kind of pre-baby blues for a while! I've never had to deal with depression though, thankfully, so I'm not going to worry about PPD unless it actually affects me further down the line.
  • I'm not too worried about it since there is no family history. No baby updates, same old stuff going on in there. I'm glad for no excitement though, lol.

  • Monday and today have been busy, productive days for me! Gardening, cleaning, and packing to move out of our apartment by my due date. Tuesday was a wash, I felt like crap and spent the day in bed or close to it.

No progression as of last Thursday, and I had lost a pound (13 lbs net gain now). Still at 1cm, 70% effaced, and we'll see what the dr says at tomorrow's appt!

Wednesday QOTD: How worried are you about PPD? Any family history of it? Is your DH worried about what you will go through after the birth?

I'm a little worried about it, only because I've felt rather depressed pretty often through this pregnancy. My DH knows about it though, and is ready to look for signs :)

  • I'm fairly concerned that PPD will hit me, having a bipolar mother and other family members with varying degrees of depression. SO keeps saying, "No, no, you'll be fine," so I'm not sure if he's in denial that it could happen/totally unprepared or just being optimistic and trying to make me feel better.
