so why does every one tell me

that DS is huge? He's not quite six months, weighs 16 lbs, is in size 3-6 clothes and wears size 2 diapers. From all of the posts on here, I was thinking he was kind of a little guy, but everyone I see asks how old he is and when I tell them replies "oh, he's so BIG!" What's the deal?

Does he have a big head? DS is almost 12 months and in 12 month clothes. He really isnt big but he has a big head and chunky cheeks(the only chunky part about him) So every one is always telling me how big he is! Frustrating right?!!

Is it people of our parents generation or older telling you this? Someone told me once that calling a baby "big" was a compliment, because it implied the baby to be healthy.

The other day at the pool someone asked if ds was three months old...I got them back by asking how old their son was......it was a girl

In my defense she was only wearing a swim diaper.

lol. I went through the same thing when my son was about 4 - 5 months old. He was exactly on the 50th percentile but for some reason a lot of people thought he was huge. I met a few people who actually thought he was a year old! I was in shock at that one, as my son couldn't even sit up at that point and they thought he was a year? I think some people are just odd. Or not familiar with babies.

How long is he? That could make a difference.

DD is 10 months, 28", 17 lbs, and size 3ish diapers I guess (use cloth).

Our friend's son is 3 months, 27", 15 lbs. and size 1 diapers.

He basically looks the same size as my LO.

I get this ALL THE TIME! DS is barely 20lbs at almost 11 months, still is in 9 month size clothing but everyone says how big he is. It doesn't help that everyone here is super tiny and Asian so all their babies are 15 lbs at a year old!

People just say stuff without even thinking...I wouldn't worry too much about it!

People always think DD is huge but it's becuase she's so long. She's really thin but just really long!

That's not big at all. DD was 16.5 lbs and 25.5 inches at her 6 month checkup and that's considered right in the 50th percentile.

People don't get baby sizes at all, as in, everyone is different. I hear that all the time too and DS is in the 10% for height. I keep wanting to say "And you are huge for your age too!"

People have told me DS is "huge" as well. His head is huge (72%) but the rest of him is not (8%). Some people have no clue.

Someone told me today that my 30 lb, 39" FOUR year old was "huge" today. Seriously, said she was huge for her age (and they didnt mean tall). Yeah...ok. She's in the 5th %.

That is crazy. DD is almost 4 and the same ht/wt.
