Being 18 months old is hard!

I don't know what to call it (an 18-month wakeful period?), but DD has hit a rough patch recently.  She's started fighting her naps even though she's very obviously tired (and will sometimes sleep less than an hour before waking up).  I'm currently reading Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, but I still haven't found any information about getting her to sleep and helping her stay asleep.  Maybe I should go back to the sleep training I did with her as an infant.  She's still sleeping through the night -- thank goodness.  I'm prone to think this is a normal part of her development and will pass in time...right?

Re: Being 18 months old is hard!

  • Orion had a lot of sleep trouble around 18 months.  Unfortunately for us it was mostly at night.  He started waking up ridiculously early, like 4 am, ready for the day.  We actually moved our recliner into his bedroom so we could go in there and lay with him early in the morning to try and squeeze out a few more hours of sleep.  It seemed to last a long time too, like a month or two.  It was rough.

  • I'm having the same trouble here with Dulcie :( The only thing that's helped is when DH has time to swim with her and wear her out completely. She's normally a great sleeper (not by nature, but from sleep training). The problem is I don't have enough energy to deplete hers! Good luck!
