Puffs.. what age?

At what age did you give your DC puffs? I bought some today, but am unsure when I want to actually give them to her. I gave her a tiny piece of cracker this weekend, and you'd have thought I put a shard of glass in her mouth, by the face she made. hehe... I know it was just a new texture. But it was funny. :-) Just not sure if she's ready or not for anything other than purees...

Re: Puffs.. what age?

  • I think we started introducing puffs around 7 months.  I can't really remember.  At that time, we were just using them so that DS could work on his pincer grasp.  Around 8 months was when we transitioned to table foods and he loved puffs at that point.

  • We never did, in fact.  We started her on dried peas around 8 months, and she loved (and still loves) those. :)

  • I think around 7 months for us too. But I know that our pedi gave us the go-ahead with Cheerios and puffs at dd's 6 month appointment. You can try them and she will let you know if she isn't ready.
  • Doctor told us we could start at 6 months.  I tried giving him 1 and he hated it! Tried it again in a couple weeks and now he loves them! I would definitely say try them!

Ditto this, except we waited longer to transition to table foods b/c Mads still likes purees.

Alchris- I'm impressed that Kira was able to eat those peas at 8 months. That is the only food that we've given Maddie that she still gags on- weird! She LOVES that dried fruit though, she starts panting when I get the container out, lol.
