everything that i needed-dermaplast, throw away undies, huge pads, tucks pads...i was given at the hospital and could take it home. even the medella nipple cream for bf...gl! and for ice packs, you can cut the tabs off a diaper, soak it in water and freeze--thats what they used in the hospital but i never needed this at home, and i had a 3rd degree tear
1.) Jumbo overnight pads - they are uncomfortable and not fun to wear but much needed.
2.) Sitz bath - they gave me one of these at the hospital that I was able to take home and it is great.
3.) Disposable breast pads for your leaky boobs.
4.) Either a gel pack or have your DH/SO learn how to make the ice packs with the diapers that they give you at the hospital for your hoo ha. My DH just made them with diapers like at the hospital and I used these at night for about 4 days after we got home.
My hospital gave me everything I needed to take home but the stool softener (Colace - Kmart, not sure about other stores, has their own brand for like half the cost).
What the hospital gave me:
Dermoplast spray (Pain and Itch relief)
Tucks wipes (I bought generic, they're just not the same - not as moist)
Mesh underwear
Their pads (so much softer than Always pads - the Always pads made my stitches itch worse)
....But the thing that helped the most was taking newborn diapers, filling them with water, freezing them, then using them as a pad. This helped the pain 100x more than anything and helped the swelling go down instantly.
I barely used my peri bottle. But the sitz bath the hospital gave me was awesome.
I packed a huge bag of stuff to take the hospital and the only things I used were my own shampoo/conditioner, laptop, camera, video camera, and my going home clothes. I could barely get out of bed and walk, let along get all fancied up. Plus, I was so busy with visitors or him that some of my stuff was pointless.
Re: Shopping list: what are PP Toiletries must have's??
Lansinoh cream if you plan to BF.
First off ?Good luck tomorrow. I was also induced.
I was told I couldnt soak in the tub for at least 2 weeks
Ditto on the Stool Softener. I took it for about two weeks. And when they give you the prescriptions for pain killers FILL THEM!
Percoset was my friend...
Moist wipes (like diaper wipes). I didn't want to wipe with toilet paper for a while.
Dermaplast was a lifesaver.
Ice packs to sit on.
Large overnight pads.
