Success after IF

Any advice? just let him keep crying?

Brighton is exhausted. His eyes were red rimmed yesterday from crying and being so tired!  But I put him in his crib and he'll sleep for 20 minutes and wake up crying.

I've been getting him up and laying him back down later for another short nap, but should I just keep letting him cry?  He's been crying for 10 minutes and I feel so bad just leaving him in there, but will it help?

Any thoughts?

ps he's been sleeping fine at night, it's only during the day! And everything seems to wake him up (every small noise) maybe I should put a fan in there....

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Re: Any advice? just let him keep crying?

  • Brady was the same way! And I could let him cry all day and he would NOT go back to sleep. For us, letting him cry did nothing but make him upset. He always slept great at night but was a terrible napper. I would just try and put him down a little more often since he would not sleep more than 30 minutes. But by Brighton's age we usually only got two 30 minute naps in him. I would def. recommend a fan or some kind of white noise, that def. helps them sleep!! (Heck, it helps me sleep!)

  •  we have a fan in jack's room and our room - really helps block out noise.  yes, you become addicted but oh well.  we all are!  but i think bright might be teething - that pain can come and go.  maybe try some tylenol or motrin?  hope he settles soon!
    Wheee!

  • You need the "baby crack" sound machine. ??

    https://www.target.com/HoMedics-Sound-SPA-Relaxation-Machine/dp/B0009Y2E42/sr=1-1/qid=1248190699/ref=sr_1_1/186-4974150-7190302?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&rh=k:sound machine homedics&page=1?

It will help wash out all the other noises of the house. ?Dog, doorbell, dishes clanking, etc. ?

Megan almost always sleeps in the rain. ?;) ??

  • I second the baby crack machine!!! We keep it on the rain all the time & it works great!!
  • I second the tylenol.  Gracie is 8 mos and teething bad right now...for the last week she's not even sleeping through the night anymore :(
  • when Ben gets like this, I give him some Tylenol and rock him in the chair...it helps him calm down and I can put him back into the crib. A fan would help, on top of a white noise thing. If he still doesn't want to sleep, I would rock him for a bit, then try to put him back down. I hope something works for you!!
  • If you need white noise and can't or don't want to go buy one of the crack machines, you can also download white noise albums on iTunes. We did that and now we just play the iPod all night in a dock. It seems to work!
