2nd Trimester

Sore pelvis?

Anyone experiencing this?  What is it?  I woke up last night to soreness/achy-feeling in my pelvic area and it really seems like it is either the bone itself or the muscles right around it.  It was difficult to get comfortable after that and also uncomfortable to walk etc.  And no I haven't gotten any crazy action lately to account for this!

I tried to look it up in What to Expect but all I could find was that during the last month of pregnancy when the baby drops you can experience pain in your pelvic area but obviously we are way too early for that.

Re: Sore pelvis?

  • Most likely it is the ligaments in your pelvis stretching, and your pubic symphysis. It is terrible pain, and I would say it was a big complaint with my first and the biggest with this one. Swimming really helps, and sleeping with a pillow between your knees helps too. When desperate, I would take 2 tylenol!

  • I feel your pain...literally! My pelvis has been so sore the past week. It seems to be getting better, but there were a good few days where it hurt just to walk or stand up.

Exactly. I remember this with DS and it has already started again this time :( The pain almost feels like your bruised your pubic bone along with pain in the surrounding area. Try the pillow thing as pp said. Just another fun symptom of pregnancy. Feel better!

  • Thanks for the advice ladies!  I am glad to know what it is and that it makes sense.   I will try the pillow thing and we have a pool so that makes it easy to swim.  Hopefully it won't last too long!!
  • When I was pg with DS, there were days here and there that felt like someone had thrown a bowling ball into my pelvic bone.  I've already had a few of those days (though more minor so far than when I had them with DS).  OB said it's pressure and weight from the baby.
  • This happens to me when I've been walking.  It's normal though.
