  One is a soft E and the other is a hard E so no, it doesn't sound bad that then both end with en.

  Even though your last name is not propounced Stein it sounds like

  It's NOT awful... both names end w/ a different sound, plus you're gonna pause between the names. If you like it, go or it!

  I think it's okay. And if you have a multi-syllable middle name, that would help too (even though you won't use it most of the time).
