Daycares on the eastside

Anyone have any recommendations for daycare on the eastside (around South Euclid)?   I am from the westside and recently moved east so I have no clue and of course DH has no ideas either.  I work downtown and DH works in Highland Heights so either one of us could do drop off/pick up.  TIA!

Re: Daycares on the eastside

  • I work at the Clinic and asked a ton of folks about Cleveland Children's Academy on Chester and E 93rd.  People LOVE their Infant I teachers, but after a year, most folks I know have left because of overcrowding.  We're planning to start there so we can visit during the day, but have already made arrangements to move by 12 months - that will also be closer to home and other family.

  • I heard Kinder Care is pretty good (lyndhurst). One I would NOT reccomend is Kiddie Company. I use to work there, and though they give a good impression, there is never enough teachers to go around..there were occassions when I was left alone with 8, 2 yo (state law said I could only have 6). There were a couple of occassions when we were kept open when there was no electricity (in the winter=no heat).

  • Thanks Jules!  That is one on our list so that's good to know.  Kindercare has 2 places...one in Lyndhurst and one in Mayfield Hts, which is where DH works but either would be convenient.

I did call the Cleveland Clinic one and they will have availability when we need it but they are the most expensive.  But we'll probably visit them anyway.  That's on my way to work.

There's also another place called Childtime, which is in Beachwood and would not be as convenient.  Know anything about them?

  • You might want to look up some of these places on the Ohio JFS website, where it will tell you how the daycares did on their inspections.  https://www.odjfs.state.oh.us/cdc/query.asp

There are a lot that have not done well and have been out of compliance on certain things like safety, and of course the center is not going to broadcast that to visiting parents.

You can also do a search for daycares in particular areas.
