Hi ladies. I?ve been a lurker here for the last couple of months, and think that you?ve all been very helpful, supportive and informative in so many areas that were a question to me regarding infertility questions and issues.
My husband and I are now onto cycle 14, and I?m super frustrated. According to OPK and CBEFM, I ovulate on my own each month. DH had 2 SA?s done. First one wasn?t great, but I think it was because it had been too long since he had ejaculated. The second one had ?fresher? sperm and all numbers were normal. I then went in for an HSG, and my tubes were clear and uterus was great. My doctor was supposed to call me with next steps and whatnot, but I haven?t heard back from him since getting the results of my HSG at the beginning of July.
I really like my doctor a lot, but he?s got it made up in his mind that I absolutely ovulate and that there is no reason why I shouldn?t be pregnant by now. He says he doesn?t want to prescribe clomid because I ovulate on my own. He hasn?t done CD3 (or any other kind of ) bloodwork because he thinks it?s unnecessary. What if my FSH sucks and I?m not releasing mature follicles? What if my progesterone sucks (my LP has been around 10 days the whole time, except for the last 2 months when they?ve been 13) and I can?t sustain a pregnancy? Am I just being neurotic? Should I pretty much insist on having it and being monitored? He?s never even done an ultrasound to see if I have cysts or anything on my ovaries. I?ve tried to go to a doctor that my friend is going to who specializes more in fertility issues, but his first opening is October 5th. I can?t wait that long and not do anything at all about this.
Should I go to another doctor? My closest RE or actual Infertility group is 3 hours away. This is completely frustrating, and I just want to hit something. Thanks for any advice you could give on my stupid situation.
Re: Clomid Question (sort of)
Yes, you should insist on having it and being monitored. And yes I would suggest another dr since this dr seems to think that everything is normal. I have normal AFs, they come right on time, and my HSG was normal. My bloodwork showed that I don't ovulate. If he refuses then go to a new dr.
Have you been charting? That will also help you determine if you've been ovulating.
GL!
i know waiting on a specialist sucks... but i think its time. your doctor is clearly out of his element when dealing with this stuff and hasn't got a clue what standard testing and treatment protocols are. i'm sorry! i would be frustrated, too.
i would get a new doctor asap. because it doesn't sound like your current Doc is going to help you get pregnant anyways, you know? if you want to try to insist on CD3 testing for FSH, LH, and E2 and 7dpo testing for P4, i can't imagine it would hurt. what is the worst that could come from asking? but even if you do get these tests with your doctor, whether the results come back normal or with a problem, i still think he's not the right person to treat you. after 14 cycles, just assuming it will work eventually doesn't cut it!
hang in there....
Because we're fancy like that.
he should at least be testing your progestorone levels and doing day 3 bloodwork. i would contact another doc and get a consult...not sure why he's never done internal u/s to determine cysts....
