2nd Tri...

Ok, so I've been feeling GREAT this 2nd trimester and I am fearful to ask but...when does the tiredness, swelling, really PG feeling come? 3rd trimester?

At what week in your PG did you find yourself slowing back down? I know for some the 1st trimester can be a bear, and unfortunately for some so can the 2nd, but I've felt very lucky this whole PG so far without too much to complain about.

Anyone go through their whole PG feeling pretty good?? If not, what were the changes you can help me prepare for as I grow more and more PG??

Any advice/stories is much appreciated! THANKS!!!

Re: 2nd Tri...

  • I have to say, looking back, I probably felt the best during the third tri.  I was exhausted through the first with low-grade morning sickness, just sort of a constant nausea.  Then head colds and headaches through the 2nd.  By the 3rd, I wasn't as exhausted, no longer sick and no headaches.  Getting around wasn't the easiest, but I have to say, the 3rd wasn't that bad.  So it is possible.

  • For me, the whole pregnancy has sucked for one reason or another (sorry, but it's the truth!).  In the 2nd trimester, I had really bad back pain.  It must have been something about the position of the babies because eventually, it let up.  Right now (in 3rd trim) my back hurts pretty much every day but it's really manageable - back then I could barely sit up for an hour at a time and when you work an office job that's not good!   But I think it really varies - I was expecting to get heartburn because I do tend to get it from time to time and I haven't at all!  So you never know.

I think the best thing to do is just be grateful for every symptom that you don't have an enjoy this time while you feel good, try not to look for ailments because believe me, they will find you!  Just count your blessings and hope the time passes quickly!

  • For me it was up and down--I'd go through a period where things would get tough (including right around 22w so you're already past it!) and then it would get a little easier, almost like my body kept having to make adjustments. But I'd say by about 33-34w, it got hard and just kept getting harder. My body put me on bedrest the last 4 weeks--I just couldn't walk anymore. (I got very painful cramping/contractions so I was pretty much on a reclining couch all day with minimal trips to the bathroom.)

  • The first & second trimesters were not bad for me at all, but now I am starting to slow down more and more every day. I can only go to one store a day - by the second store my back starts to hurt, and am having to rest between tasks so everything takes twice as long as it used to. (this heat is not helping either)

My only advise is just to listen to your body and when things start to tire you, start taking it a little easier. It is hard because there is SO much I want to do, but just have to pace myself now.

  • My 1st Tri. was very tough with m/s daily.  2nd Tri. wasn't too too bad, of course there were some obstacles in there including tailbone pain that rocked my world and still comes and goes.  Now in the 3rd Tri. I'm noticing things are becoming more difficult as I get bigger.  I'm not exhausted yet, but I do get tired easier.  We'll see how it keeps progressing.
  • my 2nd tri is kicking my butt. A lot of it is my return to work, but i am finding i am hot and exhausted constantly, and really not a pleasant person to be around some days
