Question - since I am ignorant when it comes to any type of CDing...... When you say "prefolds" do you just mean the "good old" cloth diapers? I have a ton of these that I have received from a friend that I currently use as burp cloths. Should I just use them as inserts? Also "g" Diapers now actually sells a cloth insert, I wonder if I should go that route?
TIA!
Re: **alchris**
Yes, as long as they're not Gerber brand which should only be used as burp cloths
, prefolds are the "good old" diapers! The best place to buy them is Green Mountain Diapers, but you can buy them tons of places. My understanding is that anything specifically made for gdiapers is twice as expensive and not as absorbent, but of course you can try them and see which you prefer. Regardless I think you'll save a ton of money going that route. Our prefolds fit perfectly in the gdiaper liners. Again, fitted diapers were the workhorses of our newborn stash and now are the only thing we use, but gdiapers with prefolds were my little creation (although I'm sure I'm not the only one to have come up with that idea!) when I saw how wasteful (IMO) the gdiaper inserts were. They're still a thousand times better for the environment than sposies are as long as they're composted and not tossed in the trash, but I still hated to toss them when prefolds worked just as well and could be reused. You can always try different covers with prefolds too, but giadper covers worked just fine for us with prefolds. I hope this helps!
OK, before posting I googled it and wow, these are expensive!

Awesome! Thank you for the info! I would have never even thought of putting my "prefolds" in there - duh. Although it should have occurred to me. I do have a lot of the thin Gerber ones, so I will stay away from those. But I also have thicker ones that are not Gerber that I will try in the "g" covers.
And thanks for the websites - I will keep you posted
