how do you treat your lo's excema?

my lo has some form of excema mainly around his face/neck and it appears to be worse in the last few days. i think it is related to his mpsi but i am not sure if there is a way to treat it when it looks worse. i typically use eucerin or hydrlatum cream regularly. we go to the dr. next week but i am looking for options in the meantime. tia

  • You can use .5% hydrocortisone for no more then 3 days on the face. If your LO is itching this will help! Also use the cream when they get out of the bath before their skin dries.

  • The dark blue capped Aveno.  It is for extremely dry skin.  The really bad spots mix a bit of hyrdocortisone cream in with the lotion.

  • I agree with the pp's about the hydrocortisone. DD has a prescription for a higher strength hydrocortisone cream and it works wonders.

We use the dark blue aveeno and it seems to work well.  Also, DS had a break out around his neck.  I changed the type of bib I was using, and it went away.
