Hi Melaniesc,
In my post about my retrieval on Monday, you asked me about my protocol. I've been on 20 of Lupron and 450 total (250 am and 200 pm) of Follistim. My RE said that that was the highest dosage they usually give. How much follistim were you taking and how much of the other drugs? I'm 38 with diminished ovarian reserve TTC#1, so my RE said that this protocol was very aggressive, but I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Hi,
Honestly I can't remember the exact dosages I was on because my IVF was 2 years ago and I didn't write any of that stuff down. The 450 of Follistim does sound high, but I'm just curious why the RE wouldn't try other drugs in combination with that if you're not having a good response to the Follistim. It's possible you'd have a better response to another drug.
I do remember w/ my IVF 2 yrs ago the RE started me out on a low dosage of follistim and progressively bumped it up. Then a few days in he started me on the Menopur. Right before my retrieval they even gave me a shot of Repronex just to try to get more of the follies at a good size. I still didn't have a 'great' response, according to my RE, but wound up having 5 retrieved, 3 put back in (one was borderline not that great but we put it in anyway), 2 stuck and lost 1 at 5 wks. Have DD as a result and are beyond thrilled. Good luck to you on your cycle.
