We're naming our daughter Leah. Short, pretty, traditional...the things we like. We told family and friends already that this IS her name.
I saw MIL tonight and she says, "So you're naming her Leah, but what are we going to call her?" I was so confused and just said, "Leah." Why do people have to make calling a person by their name way harder than it has to be?
Re: but what will we call her?
Ummm... you've never heard of a nickname before??? That is what the MIL was referring to...
OP, some people just can't stand to not shorten or give everyone a nickname... it's one of my biggest pet peeves. People are annoying! GL
I'm guessing she's heard of a nn. I agree that I've never heard of it being a problem when a name clearly does not have a short version.
My MIL is big on NNs, too... most names she has suggested for us have been followed by several different NN options. Like the PP said, I think some people just like to have a NN for their child, but you can't really shorten Leah!
For kicks, you should tell her you're calling the baby Leanna "for short" LOL.
My sister's name is Leah ... and the only nn she had (just from family) was Leah Peah and WeeWee ... HA .... offer up those suggestions.
I love the name Leah ... I think it's very sweet.
I was having the same issue. ?I mean, if her name were something longer, maybe, but how in the world do you shorten Leah. ?I really have never heard of needing a nn for Leah. ??
Lol. Our Leah just goes by...Leah. Sometimes Leah Bean.
