Can MIL use play yard as a crib?

I will be going back to work for about 3-4 weeks when the baby is 4 months old. 

DH suggested MIL buy a play yard for her house so the baby has somewhere to nap when he/she is with MIL during the day while I'm at work.  She could also use it if she was watching the baby while we were out for the night to dinner or something...

Also MIL would keep this at her house for an occasional overnight visit if we had a wedding out of town or something - it would be VERY RARE that we would be out overnight since we live 5 mins from our in laws.

Sorry if this is a silly question, this is obviously our first.

    Do you mean a pack and play?  If so, we used ours all the time with both kids.  They're great for travel, grandparents house or even just an extra crib in the house.  Both of my kids slept in the pack and play in our room when they were still nursing at night.  They're a great item to have - especially at grandparents' houses.  :)

    Yes, a pack and play, exactly!  I thought DH had a great idea but I just wanted to make sure that it is a nice place for a baby/infant to sleep.

    Definitely! That's what they are for-travelling, camping, etc. Our baby will sleep in it when we go travelling, or if we take it to a babysitter. It will also sleep in one at my mom's house when we put it down for naps there.

    That's what we'll be using at my mom's when I go back to work. First tho we'll use it as a bassinet in our room for when the baby is tiny Big Smile

    Definitely! My Mom has one at her house for the grandkids to sleep in when they spend the night. DD sleeps just fine in it when she stays the night there. And FWIW I live 5 minutes from my Mom also, but it is sooo nice to have an occasional night to ourselves (& to sleep in a bit!). I always miss her & want to go pick her up right away the next day though!
