Success after IF

I just ate a hotdog and now I feel guilty :(

I know, it sounds so dumb and so "1st trimester-ish" but I can't help but feel guilty for chowing down a hotdog. I told myself that it was going to be fine, that I will not allow myself to feel paranoid and look at me now, Googling away and praying that the hotdog didn't contain listeria.Tongue Tied

Re: I just ate a hotdog and now I feel guilty :(

  • I have had soooo many hotdogs this pregnancy (probably more than a nonp-pg person should consume LOL) and have zero guilt. As long as it was cooked thoroughly, you are fine. I have had a craving for "processed meats" like hotdogs, sausage, pepperoni etc... I have something like that a few times per week, but always cooked or heated in the case of the lunchmeats.

If it makes you feel better, I had about 6 ounces of beer the other night.  I returned home from a business trip and was so wound up - a little beer was sooooo yummy, and since I had it with about 24 ounces of water over the course of an hour, I didn't 't feel too bad :)  An indulgence once in a while is just fine.

  • I pretty much had 1 hot dog/week during my pregnancy, including corn dogs...they were my craving. I wouldn't about it at all!
  • As long as you didn't eat the hot dog cold and slimy, don't worry about Listeria.

And a little bit of nitrate/ites won't hurt.

    No guilt!

  • You're fine: I ate 3 of them last weekend alone....if it was cooked to temp...there isn't a problem.

  • Lol, thanks girls. I logged on this morning to find 10 responses and my first thought was I just know those are all flames for sounding so dumb. What's dumb is me thinking you girls are that mean.Smile Anyway, thanks for the reassurance, I actually do feel better now. I need to seriously stop worrying so much.

  • I discovered organic, all-beef, nitrate free hot dogs last weekend. I got them at Trader Joes and I thought they'd taste awful. Wrong! They are better than the regular ones. DH was OOT all week and literally I had one every night for dinner this week.

  • Stop googling. As long as you cooked it, you're fine. I've had SO many hotdogs so far it's ridiculous. I just can't resist the smell of hot dogs on a charcoal grill. And its summer for crying out loud....bring on the hot dogs!!
  • Now I want a hot dog!  LOL!  You're fine - drink a little orange juice - it counteracts the nitrates (supposedly.)  Regardless - a cooked hot dog now and then isn't going to hurt a thing - it's summer!  You have to eat a weenie now and then!  Cool
    Wheee!
